anyone met banksy then ?, by Pure Evil on Aug 1, 2007 22:11:52 GMT 1, I just want to know if anyone made it to the 2002 street show now? I too don't care to see pics of the man... It's all gossip and speculation anyway. I just want to know what i missed..... Anyone???
I went to the show it was in the tunnel where CARGO is now... there were lots of monkeys and I think there were some cows I think.... hmmmm there was plenty of free beer and i sat in the gutter and drew people.. it was a good night and I was quite surprised by the idea of doing an exhibition in the street...
there are pics of it on flickr somewhere...
I met banksy by accident and I was such a fan-boy I gave him a t-shirt... he's about 12 feet high and he looks a bit like the baddie in ENTER THE DRAGON.. very chinese looking , he's got all these different removable hand things...one has got a marker and one has got a spray can .. really cool..

Has he got Eagle Eye function eyeballs? (incredibly useful if you need to look anyhere other than straight ahead)

because Banksy's made it matter. If you walk into a crowded pub and scream 'DONT LOOK AT ME' then chances are everybody's going to look at you. There are lots of other artists I've seen photos of who I wouldn't recognise in the street. Its almost as though the whole anonymity thing was something thats been perpetuated on the advice of his pr company. It gives journos something to write about, keeps him in the papers and lets everyone project onto him a image of what they want him to be.

good point. also it doesn't matter if journos publish a pic as people will always question whether it was him.
The only way this will be solved is if he 'exposes' himself as says this is me, here's me doing the graff and get someone else like Laz to verify it's him.
it doesn't matter that the london papers printed one of him doing it because as his videos on his site shows, he has help for some of the bigger pieces so who's to say which one is actually him.
Also, who's to say he does all of the work himself? He obviously comes up with the ideas but he might not actually do all of the work- i'm thinking about the installation work as i know he didn't do the glasto portaloo one himself
