Next Banksy on POW?, by ala399 on Jun 23, 2007 17:16:14 GMT 1, Assuming most POW peops were planning to be Glastonbury righ now, I wouldn’t be surprise if the next release was held back for the next couple weeks when they’re all back.
They need to release 3 Banksy's by the year end, the last one in December. That leaves them June/July, and Sept/Oct.

Next Banksy on POW?, by corblimeylimey on Jun 23, 2007 18:22:13 GMT 1, The timings of these releases is just getting really stupid now, they were all meant to be released 6 months ago, and now we still have half unreleased it really is beyond a joke.
Even their joke of taking until August looks unrealistic, quite pathetic and frustrating.
Come on POW pull your fingers out!

Next Banksy on POW?, by carlito on Jun 23, 2007 18:45:00 GMT 1, totally agree cbl this is getting maddening..the question we have to ask is why the big delay?
is it simply that they have to sort out all the replacement morons before another release?
or are they thinking hang on we've got a captive audience here who'll check everyday until a new banksy release so may well buy other prints (they wouldn't have otherwise) in the meantime...? (so lets keep them waiting)
or is there a darker reason still...?perhaps B has decided no more prints after these..in which case they'll string out as long as humanly possible? (okay I don't believe this one at all)
the next release is shaping up to be the most demanded ever, interest continually growing, lets hope their servers and connections are up to it and there's enough to go round (some hope)

Next Banksy on POW?, by ABC on Jun 23, 2007 21:57:19 GMT 1, If they are the last prints by Mr B then Im sure they are not going to let them go cheap, regardless of what they stand for. They are a buisiness at the end of the day.

Next Banksy on POW?, by RBK on Jun 24, 2007 8:29:30 GMT 1, I think people believe these will be the last prints through POW - and new ones will be sold in the future through Laz. Pure speculation though.

Next Banksy on POW?, by mcnuts on Jun 24, 2007 9:59:37 GMT 1, I think people believe these will be the last prints through POW - and new ones will be sold in the future through Laz. Pure speculation though. i think thats rhumor and cant see it happening. to move banksy's stuff for sale via LAZ would make it more exclusive than it already is (LAZ usually isnt cheap). For my reading of banksy's stuff and his ethos, this would go against it. At the same time, he may just say f*ck the art world (kinda like morons) and for those who want an exclusive print(and who want to drop mad cash like a moron ) then only see the prints via LAZ.
Banksy, does, after all, offer high quality images on his site for free the difference being the prints on his site aren't limited or signed but, if you liek the image, its all you need. right? But as humans, we like to form cliques and tribes and the "exclusivity" of a banksy is whats driving the price up (which foes against the idea of street art, no?). So I guess he could just go the whole hog. But if he did do this, i hope it would be counter with larg, high quality (not litho soup can poster) open editions. Having said that, why drive the price up so only wanker bankers have a shot of banksy's art if he is gonna sell it?
Who knows, I hope they keep them coming and would really prefer if they just said when the hell things would happen as opposed to this lunacy which does nobody any favours.

I reckon the next lot should go through SOS and retail at the usual £50.00 or so. ;D All in favour say aye.

We must remember that Banksy himself is setting the price of the prints and so far he's been very kind to us, do you really think he'll change tack?

Next Banksy on POW?, by carlito on Jun 24, 2007 12:24:10 GMT 1, does anyone think the real reason for the delay is simply the mass number of damaged copies of morons? .. in my non-conspiracy theory / lucid moments this seems to make sense
i do see prices getting another push, altho not by much, already they're reaching my limits - but Ebay proves everyday there's a lot of ppl willing to pay crazy prices (see most recently micallef's JD from a guy with 0 feedback already over 1k wtf??? )

Next Banksy on POW?, by finsburyparkranger on Jun 24, 2007 15:06:54 GMT 1, In a recent interview Banksy had a bit of a moan about the difficulty of providing affordable art when it so quickly can become unfordable because of reselling and he stated that he's getting 'tired' of that game....hmmm...
Sadly I think Banksy is going to start demanding closer to the market price and then square this off in his mind by the fact that he'll redistribute more of the profits to good causes. Stealing off the rich and giving to the poor and all that. However I think he will always use POW as his print distributer unless there is a fall out because it has more kudos than stuffy galleries. I also suspect that the clever money would suggest he would always sell his prints slightly below the market price to help keep the frenzy alive.
However as I said more and more I think we'll see him preferring to give his money away to guaranteed good causes rather than giving away his prints at cheap prices and to be fair it would be fairly understandable if he went down this road. As long as he's sharing his art on the street and providing free art on his web site and supporting more good causes, I think his fans will always respect him for that.

Next Banksy on POW?, by finsburyparkranger on Jun 24, 2007 16:05:47 GMT 1, Yeah its a tricky one. I'm sure banksy knows that he's helped alot of people that are like-minded and would never have been able to afford something so valuable and he's probably reluctant to change that dynamic. Who knows, Its all specualtion. He may give the next prints free to the first 500 fans that ask for one. I wouldn't put it past him.

Next Banksy on POW?, by BK83 on Jun 24, 2007 18:09:02 GMT 1, I honestly think that this will be the last set of prints through POW. I really cant see any other explanation as to why it is being dragged out so long without so much as an email or even a news update on the website.
it's pretty obvious that the wait time between prints is not so that POW can update the servers -- the last two print releases were fucking mental!
Ah well.... I'd rather see something new from DOLK anyway -- all this waiting around for Banksy is getting a boring...... aside from Trollies i dont even like the remaing prints.
