I messaged you as soon as you listed & you haven't pulled it, so I'm not sure there's much point saying anything else. You are well aware it's not just a bit of graf to try & make a quick buck out of & yet you persist. Deeply sad.

I got a Banksy signiture for sale, by mido on Sept 16, 2006 18:00:48 GMT 1, I also messaged you and said that the wall was a memorial to a dead person and you might wish to reconsider selling it.
You haven't replied, nor stopped the item, but you have time to come on here and advertise your s**tty item with your first ever post.
take it off ebay or f off.
and learn to spell (signature / graffiti)

I got a Banksy signiture for sale, by danny123 on Sept 16, 2006 18:43:43 GMT 1, Without wanting to upset anyone on here, maybe we should remember that the wall has been knocked down for re-development. Maybe the guy should keep it for himself....but maybe he's not a Banksy fan like us. Just my thoughts! Cheers Danny

A voice of reason!
I'm assuming he didn't knock the wall down personally, and doesn't know the significance of what the piece was. And the truth is that if I'd walked past the pile of rubble and seen the brick with the banksy tag on, it would have gone straight in to my bag. It wouldn't be on ebay, but it wouldn't be where it fell.
No it's not. It's like picking up a piece of rubble from a demolition site.

I got a Banksy signiture for sale, by mido on Sept 16, 2006 19:44:38 GMT 1, don't have a problem with them keeping it for themselves (although a donation to a museum would better - if they would accept it) just about selling it.
They obviously do know all about it. read their advert for it. They clearly know how important it is to the area.

I messaged the sellers to explain the story behind what they had found within minutes of the item being listed & have had no reply apart from this thread. The piece wasn't just a bit of graf, it was also a Memorial wall & was left unmolested for the best part of 10 years. It's bad enough that it's been demolished in the first place, but to then see bits of it sold off on ebay for some easy money is adding insult to injury & in my opinion just plain wrong. Keep it or Auction it for Charity.
I see on the listing the sellers are trying to source a photo of the wall, so if you're reading this I do not give you permission to use my photo's posted on this forum or anywhere else & I don't imagine anyone else here will either.

I got a Banksy signiture for sale, by mido on Sept 16, 2006 20:22:47 GMT 1, Ditto- they better not nick my photos! not only do I totally disagree with this auction, but also my photos are part of my livelihood.
I was only there a month ago and I didn't notice any planning application etc (admittedly I wasn't looking for one, but it would be the sort of thing i would have read if I'd seen it)

It did look a bit "burn the witch" at the beginning of the thread.
I think everyone will just have to accept that he's going to sell the brick whether you like it or not. It may be a bit insensitive but it's not illegal.
However, if he does nick anyone's photo of the wall standing, I hope you come down on him like a ton of...

I got a Banksy signiture for sale, by summitornuffin on Sept 17, 2006 21:56:16 GMT 1, Have a look on Ebay item no 260031899850 Let me know what you think I've read your points. No I'm not a Banksy fan, however, by me selling it at least it will go to someone who appreciates what Banksy is about. Yeah OK I may make a bit of money, and I may tread on a few toes but it's just that it ends up being a Banksy piece of Art rather than some other Artist you may never have heard of but other people may be into, so I would be upsetting them, just the way it's ending up. However, I'm not totally inhuman, so I ask with all genuine respect. Whos is the wall in Memorial for and how did they die. I may reconsider my position.

I got a Banksy signiture for sale, by mido on Sept 17, 2006 22:52:22 GMT 1, Look at the photos on here if you wish (but please don't nick them). Says (in banksys' writing) 'Dedicated to Pure Class' on one side, and 'Abi - Rest In peace' on the other side.
I haven't been able to find out that much, but have been advised that 'Abi' was a popular person on the Bristol club scene.
Banksy wrote it, so it must mean something strong to him. If you are such a banksy fan, with such a heart, please don't sell it. Enjoy it on your mantlepiece if you really wish to, and maybe let it remember any of your own family who might have sadly died.

Yeah, but he's not selling it for ยฃ10! Saying "It's a high reserve", I was tempted to bid to find out the reserve but then gave up on that idea. I agree it makes sense - if I was walking past a building site and saw this, then I would ask if it was unwanted first (as quite clearly the developers didnt give a rats ass about it) and then to be honest I would give it to POW, probably not Laz cos he'd just sell it for 30 grand or sumsuchlike.
Anyways, not really much any of us can do to force him to remove the listing, its his perogative.

I got a Banksy signiture for sale, by summitornuffin on Sept 18, 2006 21:32:39 GMT 1, This message is to Martin (AKA Mido), you really are starting to wind me up.
Firstly I am not a Banksy fan.
Secondly Bristols heritage does not interst me.
Then there's you preaching about respect, and there's you selling photographs of Banksys work, presumably to make some money. Well good on you.
But then let's reflect what Banksy is about. Is he not producing in a form of Art social and political points whether in the UK or across the world.
Generating images of poignant issues about people plight and suffering whether direct or indirect.
And you, yes you sell those images to make a profit
HYPOCRIT!!!!

I got a Banksy signiture for sale, by mido on Sept 18, 2006 22:00:21 GMT 1, good. that means you are getting to understand it. It nice to get a reaction from you. I have over 600 posts on here and have done a lot of good for the forum and for other banksy fans. You haven't. you came on here and advertised your DEATH BRICK with your first post. Please put something into this forum or f**k off.
I am from the west country. I do care about bristol's heritage and I document it. Your listing states that it is a part of bristol's heritage so you obviously understand that, even if you don't believe your own listing.
read my website. then you might understand about my photos. so read it first please. Don't suppose you are interested in my charity work are you? I work for a living. you just steal bricks.
but I doubt you will read it, because you are just a sad little person profiting from a death.

Your listing states that it is a part of bristol's heritage so you obviously understand that, even if you don't believe your own listing. (I said I am not interested in Bristols heritage, not that I do not care, however, I care for the planet we live on, rather than be focused on one point. Yeah Bristol is a place and whether I was born in bristol or not, is irrelevant to the big wide picture, Bristol is a great City, however wherever I came from has no relevance. I believe identifying yourself to a location, just as most others do only generates hatred for those who move to places like Bristol, for example refugees, Somaliian, Kurds, Pakistanis, Iranians, Iraqis, at the end of the day the Planet belongs to all of us, so in real terms Heritage of a localised spot is somewhat irrelevant, I made the point of the piece being part of Bristols heritage, because it is, whether that has any meaning to me is not the point, it may have meaning to someone else)
read my website. then you might understand about my photos. I bored of defending myself, so read it first please. Don't suppose you are interested in my charity work are you? I work for a living. you just steal bricks. ( No i'm not interested in your charity work, I have my own beliefs and issues, If I told you mine you wouldn't be interested in them either, I do not steal bricks)
but I doubt you will read it, because you are just a sad little person profiting from a death. (Reflection on your comment would be wise, Are you saying ALL proceedings from the photos you sell go to Charity???)
You said
"good. that means you are getting to understand it. (Not really no, not your perspective anyway) It nice to get a reaction from you. (Thankyou) I have over 600 posts on here and have done a lot of good for the forum and for other banksy fans. You haven't. you came on here and advertised your DEATH BRICK with your first post. Please put something into this forum or f**k off.
