Street Art - Who Did This?, by Feral Things on Feb 8, 2015 17:40:58 GMT 1, stringer64 - The Mona Lisa image is a copy of Banksy's piece that was on Noel Street in c.2000 and which features in 'Banging Your Head Against A Brick Wall'. There are quite a few fake Banksy pieces around Edinburgh at the moment. I don't recognise the BFL initials but the image is obviously a copy of Alan Moore's 'V For Vendetta' artwork:

Surprenant.
Edit: I bet you've got to be a VVIP to have a Banksy truck. Something you can store all your other Banksy artwork in the back of. Better than a flat file. And you can drive away from thieves!

That's quite an old piece. I think it was posted on here a few years ago. I don't think it was established who did it, but as usual, I may well be wrong. It is very good.

It seems to have been first posted on the Nuart blog on 4 December 2011. Then it rapidly went viral, having been picked up by Wooster Collective and many others.
Besides my interest in who was responsible for the work, I was keen to learn about its medium. Rather than being a genuine street piece, my suspicion was that a photograph of spilt yellow paint on a road may have been photoshopped.
If that is correct, it wouldn't take away from the cleverness. However, describing the work as "street art" would then be inaccurate and misleading.

That's interesting. I had no idea that there was any doubt about it being a street piece. I had, perhaps naively, thought it was. I like the idea of the artist seeing the paint spill and adapting it on the street. If just a photoshopped image, it loses most (but not all) of it's appeal for me. I'm not entirely sure why. Perhaps as it's not something that passers by see and smile about. Perhaps just because it's too easy not to have been done with real paint on the street.

The yellow paint is real and the rest is an illustration on top the photo. It is very clever idea and very well executed, but not street art.

What do you know regarding the original source of the image?
Would you also have the artist's name and where they're from?
This is specifically what I tried yet failed to discover last year.

Road texture could have been added digitally.
I just don't think it looks real, especially the body area and the shoes.
With the ubiquity of smartphones, one would also expect to find online more than a single image from a single angle if indeed this had been a genuine street piece.

Street Art - Who Did This?, by Sic on Oct 4, 2015 17:10:50 GMT 1, Does anyone know who this artist is ? I think it is on a wall in Miami, Florida. Thank you - Wear From what I can find its from an artist out of New York, from 2010. Some ppl attribute it to Haculla (Harif Guzman), his older street pieces before he went big time. It's a street series called "Why so Seriesus?" (spelt that way intentionally) It featured a least four or five supermodels, Kate Moss, Christy Turlington, Heidi Klum, Linda Evangelista, and Helena Christensen. I'll attach pics to the next post.
