Zippy, I'm not an expert on prices, but what I am is an active buyer, therefore I do understand currant prices, probably more than most,I also have friends in the art world that do not belong to this forum which give me very good advice on pieces that I'm interested in,please don't be so naive to think that because someone hasn't got thousands of post by there name they are uneducated, some people on this forum with little post probably know as much as people with thousands of post ( not me ) I am new to collecting banksy , my bag is rolex watches & vintage guitars, of which I do consider myself an expert. It's very easy to say something is worth a lot of money when your not buying it.

Rolex, I am not naive to think that the number of posts indicates any knowledge. Just look at the majority of posters who write drivel on here!
However, I have learnt who to listen to when they post and moffla is one of the few.

Deputydawg I much prefer to buy prints framed, I buy art to put on my Walls, it's an inconvenience for me to get things framed down in Hampshire, as I don't no of any specialist , I allow in my mind £200 extra when buying framed prints , ps what is a typical framing price for say a Choose Your Weapon by say john jones, mr frame man or Pauli frames

Moffia I don't doubt your a good guy, I guess your a friend of zippys & howling, both of which have pretty constructive & informative post most of the time, what I'm trying to get at though is I would only sell something at a known price, I E. I wouldn't sell something to some unsuspecting newby for say £3k when I clearly know its only worth £2k. I just wouldn't & couldn't do that. Anyway how come your such an avid collector but new to this forum. Ps if you ever want to buy a decent watch try watches of distinction lymington ( not mine ) just good friends of mine . Very reasonable prices compared to London.

I have no doubt you would win, but I don't get the j& j newbie bit. If i told you I'd just bought a set of six kates or a very large canvas would that make me a newbie too. The j & j came about because I thought it was cheap, I wasn't looking for this print nor was it on my wanted or wish list , I will probably end up trading this print especially as I've all ready been offered a nice profit on it buy a London gallery. Following this thread with interest (that is in the banter and not with a view to buying any of these as I just can't afford them) and decided to put my twopence worth in.

IMO it is a bit out of order when we have had lots of posts complaining that people don't put any prices against items for sale and then when we get someone who does both in two post (US priced, signed not) the person selling the pieces get slated for their prices on the unsigned. If there was no prices against either in the thread he could still ask the same but by pm and then the person inquiring could just move on if he thought it to much.

To say that people inquiring by pm and then asking for a price are being a pain and they are only tyre kickers, who are just looking to make a quick profit, is IMO unfair. Fair enough you will get some people who think they can pull a fast one, or will never be able to pay a reasonable amount or be willing to, but there are a lot of us who just haven't got a lot of money to throw around that they can just pay whatever regardless of the cost and sometimes an enquiry can bring a price that is reasonable and is within budget, making the difference between a sale/purchase or not. Some of the "I really like it but it is a bit to much for me" are genuine and as a seller you can decide to reduce prices to let it go a little cheaper or not and politely thank them for their enquiry.

As a buyer if you think something is to much for you and the price is non negotiable you have to move on and forget it and wait for something you can afford, bitching about the price will not change it. If it is unrealistically priced it won't sell and the seller will have to chose to keep it or reduce the price (the choice is his) as a buyer if you have conducted your business politely it might then be available to you and within your price range.

Anyone placing things for sale on here, eBay or anywhere has got to expect people to ask questions, I have put things on here and other forums (none art forums) as well as eBay and enquiries are all part of this type of selling, some of them might be a bit cheeky but you just reject the offer and thank them for the interest and hope they go away (some don't ). If you don't want people asking questions don't place them on open sale but take them to a gallery and see what they will offer . However it you want a top price expect a little hassle and work to get it.

This is supposed to be a friendly forum (at least that is how I see it) and a bit of good manners can go a long way when buying, selling or just communicating, I would much rather buy from or sell to somebody who is friendly.

lobster, I do not have my own agenda of talking up prices. My only question (of which rolex politely answered) was what prints did he feel were worth 1.2k. But yet again you feel it is necessary to try to put me down?

Sent the guy a mail saying this is what I could offer if you cannot get what you want let me know.

Also as often happens people put a price on if do not sell they either reduce or take it off. For me that's their choice.

Not everyone is desperate to sell and sometimes people may be are saying (no idea in this case as do not know either) if I can sell at this price I can afford one of those if I do not sell at this price I cannot hence if not I do not want to sell.

Some people sell as they are trading.

Some sell as they need the money due to change of circumstances.

So each to their own.

no pissing contest mate ..................i just hate people saying im bigging up prices , as i keep saying im out to buy more banksy prints in the near future and always pay a fair price ...if its to expensive for me i leave well alone ....in all fairness i probably are the one of the few that want prices to drop ......i bought the banksy prints at cost back in the day like many on here as i licked the image ..nothing more nothing less, good luck in your collecting hh
