FS Banksy Prints , by Rolex on Jul 22, 2011 22:48:31 GMT 1, Zippy, I'm not an expert on prices, but what I am is an active buyer, therefore I do understand currant prices, probably more than most,I also have friends in the art world that do not belong to this forum which give me very good advice on pieces that I'm interested in,please don't be so naive to think that because someone hasn't got thousands of post by there name they are uneducated, some people on this forum with little post probably know as much as people with thousands of post ( not me ) I am new to collecting banksy , my bag is rolex watches & vintage guitars, of which I do consider myself an expert. It's very easy to say something is worth a lot of money when your not buying it.

Anyway, you never answered my question of which of his beauties he should be letting go at 1.2k ish?

FS Banksy Prints , by Rolex on Jul 23, 2011 0:44:08 GMT 1, Answer to zippys question monkey queen, bomb hugger, pulp fiction. Obviously I don't know how good the framing is but at a guess I would allow £100 for framing, being as they are unsigned, this in my buyers opinion would put these prints at £1500 max & I certainly wouldn't pay that for them.answer to moffia's question I've got & wear everyday a sixty's sub & in my sitting room sits a 57 strat ( American vintage ) & a 59 Gibson les Paul ( which is an 1981 heritage series 80 elite.) unfortunately I can't afford the real deals, anyway this is all just my opinion, I like to buy things at or just above trade or dealer prices, because you never know when or if you have to sell things,& in my 46 years of life I've been kicked in the balls enough on prices when needed to sell things to have a realistic guide on what things are truly worth.having said that I regret a recent offer I made to a forum member on a print, that in hindsight was a touch to low, but it was 5k & I offered 4.5k, which I thought was a realistic offer.hence I didn't get it.( isn't it amazing that when something Is sold you really want it ) anyway I'm not trying to down talk or up talk prices, I'm just giving my honest opinion for all it's worth. Fingers . That was funny.

FS Banksy Prints , by lobster on Jul 23, 2011 1:23:58 GMT 1, For what its worth (!!) in my opinion great post Rolex and to be fair I would maybe add £150 + for decent framing ?
I think its unfair to comment on other peoples pricing but lets be honest Zippy clearly has his own agenda which undoubtedly includes talking up prices on prints he has no interest whatsoever in buying and gets the support of others with the same intentions ?
Totally agree in that the guy should be applauded for putting up prices as opposed to the usual " make an offer " but for me whether he sells them or not will be the only indication as to whether they are fairly priced ?

FS Banksy Prints , by moffla on Jul 23, 2011 1:48:03 GMT 1, Anyone out there like to comment on the images ? Granted it's the for sale section of this forum.
Rolex, I'd like to buy at trade and sell at retail, but I'm selling them, If I try and buy a rolex off you, bet it won't be at trade.
Fact is if one person had pm'd and said I love that print but can't afford it, I may well have said ok, let's do a deal.
I've got a fair few bits of banksy's earlier output. I'm lucky but I'm a true fan, less now than years back. There was a time when I had a stupid amount on my Walls, now I prefer a few better works hanging hence the sale. So say what you like about prices. But don't expect me to, let you buy it then sell it on for profit.

I wouldn't sell something to some unsuspecting newby for say £3k when I clearly know its only worth £2k. I just wouldn't & couldn't do that. Anyway how come your such an avid collector but new to this forum. Ps if you ever want to buy a decent watch try watches of distinction lymington ( not mine ) just good friends of mine . Very reasonable prices compared to London.

Firstly, the fact you recently brought a J&J means you are Infact a 'newbie' The bits I'm offering are old in the main. They are mint and well framed. If nobody wants them on here then you may well see them for sale at galleries Or I'll keep or lend them to friends. Anyway...... My prints, my price.....
I'm not new to this forum really I've been around a while.
Let's put it like this, in a pub quiz about a bristolian vandal, odds are I may well win.

FS Banksy Prints , by Rolex on Jul 23, 2011 3:26:56 GMT 1, I have no doubt you would win, but I don't get the j& j newbie bit. If i told you I'd just bought a set of six kates or a very large canvas would that make me a newbie too. The j & j came about because I thought it was cheap, I wasn't looking for this print nor was it on my wanted or wish list , I will probably end up trading this print especially as I've all ready been offered a nice profit on it buy a London gallery. Anyway good luck with your sale.

FS Banksy Prints , by gibbin82 on Jul 23, 2011 8:05:43 GMT 1, Following this thread with interest (that is in the banter and not with a view to buying any of these as I just can't afford them) and decided to put my twopence worth in.
IMO it is a bit out of order when we have had lots of posts complaining that people don't put any prices against items for sale and then when we get someone who does both in two post (US priced, signed not) the person selling the pieces get slated for their prices on the unsigned. If there was no prices against either in the thread he could still ask the same but by pm and then the person inquiring could just move on if he thought it to much.
To say that people inquiring by pm and then asking for a price are being a pain and they are only tyre kickers, who are just looking to make a quick profit, is IMO unfair. Fair enough you will get some people who think they can pull a fast one, or will never be able to pay a reasonable amount or be willing to, but there are a lot of us who just haven't got a lot of money to throw around that they can just pay whatever regardless of the cost and sometimes an enquiry can bring a price that is reasonable and is within budget, making the difference between a sale/purchase or not. Some of the "I really like it but it is a bit to much for me" are genuine and as a seller you can decide to reduce prices to let it go a little cheaper or not and politely thank them for their enquiry.
As a buyer if you think something is to much for you and the price is non negotiable you have to move on and forget it and wait for something you can afford, bitching about the price will not change it. If it is unrealistically priced it won't sell and the seller will have to chose to keep it or reduce the price (the choice is his) as a buyer if you have conducted your business politely it might then be available to you and within your price range.
Anyone placing things for sale on here, eBay or anywhere has got to expect people to ask questions, I have put things on here and other forums (none art forums) as well as eBay and enquiries are all part of this type of selling, some of them might be a bit cheeky but you just reject the offer and thank them for the interest and hope they go away (some don't ). If you don't want people asking questions don't place them on open sale but take them to a gallery and see what they will offer . However it you want a top price expect a little hassle and work to get it.
This is supposed to be a friendly forum (at least that is how I see it) and a bit of good manners can go a long way when buying, selling or just communicating, I would much rather buy from or sell to somebody who is friendly.

Please let this thread continue without getting personal. There has been some good debate on here (for once).

FS Banksy Prints , by johnnyh on Jul 23, 2011 9:46:43 GMT 1, It amazes me some of the online rows on here. He put his price was open on that they were US.
So do not see the issue you have Rolex.
Will not mention who but someone put on a canvass that was out of my price range the other week.
Sent the guy a mail saying this is what I could offer if you cannot get what you want let me know.
Got a nice email back etc end of story.
Also as often happens people put a price on if do not sell they either reduce or take it off. For me that's their choice.
Not everyone is desperate to sell and sometimes people may be are saying (no idea in this case as do not know either) if I can sell at this price I can afford one of those if I do not sell at this price I cannot hence if not I do not want to sell.
Some people sell as they are trading.
Some sell as they need the money due to change of circumstances.
So each to their own.
IMO

FS Banksy Prints , by lobster on Jul 23, 2011 10:07:48 GMT 1, Zippy - agreed that this is a great thread hence I wanted to post which is quite rare for me and although I am very realistic in that I am sure that most people wont take any notice (!!!) - it is indeed a PUBLIC forum and I have just as much right to post as you or anyone else ?
Your point about " yet again I put you down" - I have no idea what you are talking about and without labouring this perhaps you could give me examples of any posts on the forum where I have indeed "put you down" in the last year or in fact at all ?
For me I just thought it was nice to see more of a "balanced view" regarding prices posted by Rolex - every for sale post gets the usual " great price " , " fantastic value " , "this wont last long " etc etc and generally these kind of posts are made by people who have absolutely no intention of buying the item and for me this is unfair as it is easy to say something is great value if you have no intention of buying it ? What it then does is gives the buyer an unrealistic view of what it is worth and invariably doesn't actually sell ?
In response to to your point howlin I really don't want to get in a "pissing contest " with anyone and i know that both you and Zippy have got great Banksy collections but trust me I have spent a lot of money on banksys work over the last couple of years and it would be very much in my interest for prices to go up but I am only trying to be realistic.
Absolutely fair play to this guy putting up prices and as I said previously whether they sell or not will prove if they are fairly priced as opposed to what any of us actually think ?
