It doesn't prove the one they are selling you is the same one as they are not numbered. The best option is to buy from somebody who can be trusted not to sell you a fake. I have some of the Banksy Soupcan Posters that I have been selling on eBay and I think people are more comfortable buying from me as they know it's a always going to be genuine piece. I when a seller puts his real name behind things, their posts and sales, it builds trust.
Without wishing to derail the thread, that unsigned Faile head is lovely.

Now, who knows?
As the signed and unsigned screen prints have reached the point where only the affluent can afford them, the lithographs become a more affordable entry point for the collectors who we welcome to this passionate club.
I have a soupcans litho under a bed somewhere. Sounds like it's time to either get it framed, or get it sold, :-)
