Zevs ๐จ๐ต Liquidated Trademarks โข Logo Street Art , by suez on Nov 12, 2007 0:02:18 GMT 1, I know people say this is a site for people who are interested in the artists and not for artist or galleries to promote themselfs, but as an artist I like to here feed back on my work and see what else is out there. I spend most of the time in my studio thinking and making without any thought of how the work will be recieved ,So when you see forums like this,You can hopefuly get a cross section of peoples opinions, unless it is being controlled by the big street art corporations who bang up the prices in there galleries by telling you whos hot and whos not, paranoia paronoia? Anyway lets all enjoy the ride as it has taken a long time for street art to be reaconized and if it takes the Jim Davidson(Banksy Mr B Robin reliant) of the street art to help it on it's way it' fine by me and big respect for it!

Let me clear this up for you:
Zevs at Laz and Zeus at POW are one of the same...
Zeus UK is a different artist

Zevs ๐จ๐ต Liquidated Trademarks โข Logo Street Art , by irf2112 on Feb 25, 2007 16:10:05 GMT 1, Its funny how Zevs has become a joke at POW. We're all guilty of it. Thing is - Zevs is a bona fide 'street artist'. His installations are even on early Space-invader maps.
I think POW messed up a bit when they called him Zeus and no one knew who he was. Here's an example of one of his installations.
Reason why I'm point this out is - because we're getting a wave of new artists here claiming to be the next big thing. Almost trying to create their own hype. If you want to be the next big thing let us discover you on the street or a 'street gallery' and not on a forum (or ebay).
If the masses aren't buying Zevs prints what chance have you got (to the budding artists) that they'll buy your prints?
PS. Would I purchase a Zevs print - YES if the next one was good.

Zevs ๐จ๐ต Liquidated Trademarks โข Logo Street Art , by numusic on Feb 25, 2007 16:26:13 GMT 1, spot on, Zevs is an excellent street artist. I guess at the moment you only buy a print of his out of respect for his street work rather than the quality of the imagery, and there isn't enough people in the UK that have heard of him. But yes, as soon as he makes a more wall friendly print, then a lot of people will be buying.

Zevs ๐จ๐ต Liquidated Trademarks โข Logo Street Art , by afwi on Feb 26, 2007 14:23:03 GMT 1, Posted that in the wrong topic, sorry:
Zevs is a great street artist, no doubt about it. Impact is a good print as it tells a bit who he is, it's a kind of metaphor of his alias. Would you say that Mode 2 is not a great artist because his prints did not sell as fast as others? (Stolen Kisses & Touch and Feels have only recently sold out, a fews days ago).

Zevs ๐จ๐ต Liquidated Trademarks โข Logo Street Art , by afwi on Feb 26, 2007 23:44:26 GMT 1, I'll try to explain my thoughts in a few words. The first reading is the broken window. From a general point of view, this can be seen as a reference to the broken window theory, which everybody must know here. The broken window is the symbol of the so-called incivility, which is also the word used by the ones who dislike Graffiti to describe it. Zevs is a street-artist, therefore he breaks the law (or did break it). The "impact" of his gesture can be noticed by everyone, its illegality also. The broken window represents all of this. From a more specific point of view, the story tells that once, when he was painting in the underground subway system, he had the chance to avoid being bumped by a train, which is another kind of "impact". The broken window on the print has a movement that makes me think of it as a tunnel, and so reminds me this story. All of this is clearly metaphoric. Then, why the electric sticker with its name on it? It could be regarded as "unnecessary" but I think the contrary. Zevs has taken a high voltage warning to do his logo. He has written his name on it with letters similar to the electricity arrow. OK, after all, Zevs is the god of lightning. Once again, this could simply means that the lightning causes an "impact", as the artist who paints the shadows of urban materials or attacks bilboards with red painting. But I prefer to see is also as symbolic: what he breaks by the lightning, he can also fix it by sticking his name on it. Without the sticker, the broken window should fall into pieces. It's a question of power and life and death, an act of God, thus. The last thought I have is on a more ironical level. One could easily say that most of the non writers who pretend to like Graffiti and Street Art - some of them are also collectors - are not ready to let the artists invade their home with something else than "beautiful" and/or "clean" images - the statement "I like Street Art / I don't like tags". Here, Zevs brings home strong street symbols: the broken window of the poor and/or abandoned places, the sticker, which is the hand of the invisible street artist. Hope this is readable and that Zevs himself will not post that it is totally irrelevant. If you don't like this picture, what kind of Street Art do you like?

Nice one.. you prove that art isn't just about what you can get out of it.. but also what you have to put into it too. A little bit of research, passion, studying and knowledge can make the most ugly of things beautiful and the beautiful ugly

A little bit of research, passion, studying and knowledge can make the most ugly of things beautiful and the beautiful ugly which incidentally, is why I refuse to make an effort with the girlfriend
