I know people say this is a site for people who are interested in the artists and not for artist or galleries to promote themselfs,but as an artist I like to here feed back on my work and see what else is out there.
I spend most of the time in my studio thinking and making without any thought of how the work will be recieved ,So when you see forums like this,You can hopefuly get a cross section of peoples opinions,unless it is being controlled by the big street art corporations who bang up the prices in there galleries by telling you whos hot and whos not, paranoia paronoia? Anyway lets all enjoy the ride as it has taken a long time for street art to be reaconized and if it takes the Jim Davidson(Banksy Mr B Robin reliant) of the street art to help it on it's way it' fine by me and big respect for it!

impact is just not a very good picture. error system isn't that bad, but to me it would suit an office reception more than a bedroom wall, thats probably why it's only sold 35 or whatever.

Zevs is a great street artist, no doubt about it.
Impact is a good print as it tells a bit who he is, it's a kind of metaphor of his alias.
Would you say that Mode 2 is not a great artist because his prints did not sell as fast as others? (Stolen Kisses & Touch and Feels have only recently sold out, a fews days ago).

I'll try to explain my thoughts in a few words.
The first reading is the broken window. From a general point of view, this can be seen as a reference to the broken window theory, which everybody must know here. The broken window is the symbol of the so-called incivility, which is also the word used by the ones who dislike Graffiti to describe it. Zevs is a street-artist, therefore he breaks the law (or did break it). The "impact" of his gesture can be noticed by everyone, its illegality also. The broken window represents all of this.
From a more specific point of view, the story tells that once, when he was painting in the underground subway system, he had the chance to avoid being bumped by a train, which is another kind of "impact". The broken window on the print has a movement that makes me think of it as a tunnel, and so reminds me this story.
All of this is clearly metaphoric.
Then, why the electric sticker with its name on it? It could be regarded as "unnecessary" but I think the contrary. Zevs has taken a high voltage warning to do his logo. He has written his name on it with letters similar to the electricity arrow. OK, after all, Zevs is the god of lightning. Once again, this could simply means that the lightning causes an "impact", as the artist who paints the shadows of urban materials or attacks bilboards with red painting.
But I prefer to see is also as symbolic: what he breaks by the lightning, he can also fix it by sticking his name on it. Without the sticker, the broken window should fall into pieces. It's a question of power and life and death, an act of God, thus.
The last thought I have is on a more ironical level. One could easily say that most of the non writers who pretend to like Graffiti and Street Art - some of them are also collectors - are not ready to let the artists invade their home with something else than "beautiful" and/or "clean" images - the statement "I like Street Art / I don't like tags". Here, Zevs brings home strong street symbols: the broken window of the poor and/or abandoned places, the sticker, which is the hand of the invisible street artist.
Hope this is readable and that Zevs himself will not post that it is totally irrelevant.
