do grin reapers or j&j (even though they are much better prints) go for less than £1000?

Ok ok maybe I was being a bit hopeful. Of course J&J's and GR's don't go for anything like that now. I think the last signed J&J went for £2250 on a buy it now. But my point is that the market is about to be flooded with sepias, and I mean flooded, and I can see them not doing as well as people think. I hope anyway.

Think I might be in the minority, but I actually much prefer the sepia version - helped no doubt that it's the one I was lucky enough to get one after missing out on the last 2 ;D
I think that this piece will still be of a similar price to the other signed 'LA' prints - £2000 +/- 10%....

you'll probably be able to get it for less than 2k during the flood ... maybe as low as 1500 since there are 450 total signed prints this time around (i don't think grannies or applause ever went for less than 1800ish) ... but you'd better buy it at those levels if you really want it because after the initial rush the price will probably start rising pretty quickly.

I would say seriously that the first few will go for BIN of 2500 - 3000. I cannot see a signed Banksy regardless of extended run going for less than this in the market. Also I really believe that very few will see their way to the bay. If people are buying for investment (which we all are really) even if we sell in 20 years or not, signed will always rise IMO. I think that after these LA runs we will see alot less of the prints in terms of getting them for such an affordable price. I think the tipping point is coming and it does'nt matter how much a company tries to rage against ebay its a god damn free market and anyone can sell anything they want (legal) so why not a signed Banksy on day 1. I for one will be getting this on my wall asap. I love, love, love this image and its my first signed so i am f**king loving it. I feel really sorry for all the geniune borders that got nothing, but man if ive learnt anything, its that this s**t swings in round abouts and next time it will be you with a signed trollies and me crying into my paper cup at 3 in the morning. Its sunny outside lets go out and boot the photocopier on the way through the door. oI Oi

Does anyone else find it a bit odd that there have been so few Morons prints on eBay so far? Obviously, people don't have them yet, but from memory, that didn't stop them last time. If my memory serves me correctly, some popped up on the day of release.

Could it be that POW's blacklist system has scared potential sellers? I was expecting to see a stack of them show up, with the edition number omitted.

See, I disagree with the logic here. It seems to me, the most important factor in value isn't necessarily the size of the signed run, but the total availability of an image and how desirable the image itself is.

There are 950 morons prints now in existence. Nearly half of them are signed (450 of 950! Insane). But less than a third of the run is in Sepia, and they're all signed. Aesthetically, the image is less pleasing to me than the white version, but here's the kicker: The only way to get a Sepia is to buy a signed. More colors in the composition, more exclusive image overall, and the most expensive of the three varieties--in fact, one of the most expensive Banksy screenprints ever.

So which would be worth more? The way I see it is this: What is the minimum cost to have a white on the wall? Now, what is the minimum cost to have a Sepia on the wall? Granted, the signed run of White is half of the Sepia--BUT, anybody who gives a rats ass would have to be within 2 feet of the print to know it was signed. However, even a casual glance across the room at a Sepia lets anybody who knows about Banksy that you have something special on the walls. From a pride of ownership standpoint, knowing that the cheapest *anybody* got a Sepia was for 650GBP would do a lot for me. The first White morons just sold on ebay for 750GBP, and that was at three times its original price, yet only 100 more than the original price of a Sepia. I'm certainly no oracle, but were I to bet on which is going to set you back the most on the secondary market, my money would all be on Sepia. And frankly, I think you'll see the prices of that image outpace the white simply because it is a more exclusive image.

It is interesting to me that few people acknowledge the utter uniqueness of the Grin Reaper--something I think will be corrected with time. Not only is the image itself a very strong one, but the print quality is exceedingly nice for a Banksy. But the biggest distinction between a GR and a J&J is the rarity of the image. One of the most frustrating things about the GR is trying to track the damn thing down, because a total image run of 300 is very, very small when compared to most of the more recent prints. And the fact that there are no unsigned, means there are no options--you have to pay to play. But if you want a Jack and Jill on the wall, there are far more options available. I'd imagine the Sepia morons will be sort of a hybrid between the GR and the J & J. It's a larger signed run, but a more exclusive version of the image. And its a great image. I'd love to have one.




But I do have to say, the GR is much more handsome IMHO.

the real problem is, once they start going for thousands, they're gonna attract more baggers looking to get in on the action. hate to be the one to say it but i can only see it getting worse from here on in. a lot worse.
