FAILE: Decade of Prints & Originals - LA ART SHOW, by amsterdam9697 on Jun 26, 2011 1:12:49 GMT 1, As of a couple hours ago when I was there, the originals are not all sold out- they had at least 5 left in the 1200 -4000 range - still nice images just not the easily recognizable ones. They had 1 santa book cover available. Almost all of the $10 green/ blue pasters were gone. The staff was quite nice and they admitted they did not have more than a week to set everything up and they learned quite a few things. They are also reading this board. I still have no idea why people are complaining about not getting a gold print last night though, when for $200 more you could have gotten an original. I guess it just feeds the print game and no one can explain it.I'm around 99% sure all the book covers and prints sold out. The other stuff like originals and things from their archives were definitely picked over but I am sure there is some of that still available.
We took a look at the master list in the print line and everything that I liked was already sold as far as covers. Same on the $2200 prints... that FAILE Dog was absolutely INSANELY perfect... imagine if it would have been the size of the $14K one. Double perfect ;D

Faile Elephant w/Paint Brush Pasters were Edition Limited to 400. As per gallery assistant (I think 400 Blue and 400 Green, but could possibly be 200 of each)
I thought it was one of the cooler features of the show. Show print for reasonable price. Well Done.
Came rolled like movie posters w/clear plastic around em. (Although I managed to drop both of mine and dinging one side - I hope it frames out well) Had one of the Patricks sign it after I saw some girls getting theirs signed. Signed on the back though.

FAILE: Decade of Prints & Originals - LA ART SHOW, by artstylee on Jun 26, 2011 4:30:05 GMT 1, Finally back from Venice Beach after a few cocktails... The show, as jperez waxed, was pretty much amazing........ One thing... they need to work on the jumpers as a lot of peeps who spent more than a few hours in line got screwed due to the s**t organization on the part of the gallery and ended up with nothing. Like jperez said, those of us 15-20 deep outside, who spent a few hours in line, barely scored, which doesn't seem kosher for 2 editions of 50. They opened the doors and it was an 'Amsterdam' line... the line from outside pushed into a mass and a lot of 'lil sneaky phuckers who literally showed up when they opened the doors weaseled a print. I'm looking at you, Mrs. 'my Make a Wish Foundation kid wants a FAILE' and the rest of the punks who screwed over some serious fans
Bummer you didn't score gold ed's of 50. but I was in the first 10 peeps in line. And everybody that was there in the first dozen people in line were from LA and all new eachother.
I can assure you nobody let anybody into the line within the top 10-12 people. We wanted to make a list to establish who was in the top 10. (But we didn't have paper) (The way Shep fairey handles releases at art shows/events is they hand out numbered tickets or numbered stickers about an hour 1/2 or two hours before the releases to establish who is going to have the opportunity to 100% for sure a obtain a print) - I knew we should have made a list.
I'm not at all surprised that the prints were sold out if you were. #20+ in line. It's an edition of 50.
You gotta assume 10 off the bat were either archived or provided to friends and fam of the artist or gallery. Then at least 10-20 were made available to preview press people and VIPs. + last minute art collectors folks art people that have connections sliding in VIP status opening night.
I said before we drove out there that I'd be surprised if there was more than 15-20 made available to general public. This is LA and every artist/gallery/curator and art director has alot of friends business or personal that they need to take care of. I knew for sure if I wasn't in the top 20 (top dozen) I might not get one. So I got there early.
But was kinda lame that I was in the top 10 in line waiting to be let in at 7pm. Then were just watching 8-12+ people come in last minute who "knew somebody" and burn the line, cut everyone, waltz right in (not look at the show at all) then go straight to the register and purchase both prints.
Overall I was stoked on my line standing experience everybody in line was supercool and friendly. The gallery folks were very nice (maybee they could have develop a quicker method of check out though- or have many pricelists availlable so people could have been speedier in choosing what they wanted to buy)
Security was very accomidating and on their game.
(but my bros that were in top 12 said it was insane the amount of fools rushing up and trying to cut them 5-10 feet from the register and I heard security behind be breaking up the ruckus. I definitely had people up against my back pushing to get into the purchase/registser line which was unneccessary)
Show was awesome. Faile went big. I bought both prints and signed book. and both colors of elephant w/paint brush pasters.
(I heard that the Faile tower of block prints sold for over 60K+)
Was kinda hoping they'd have done a print editon of the image that was on the show card flyer. I liked the image alot. So I grabbed a couple of showcards. It was a good night/great show. But it was 10 years in the making all of those prints. So the artists following this show better get to work to rival this show.

FAILE: Decade of Prints & Originals - LA ART SHOW, by artstylee on Jun 26, 2011 4:35:24 GMT 1, That's not what the sign said. If paster prints weren't limited why would that dude who check out show today say there were running low on pasters then? I'd assume cuz it's a limited run.

I didn't say anything about me not scoring... I ended up with a 'Something Worth Gold' and a serious cuties # so I'm all good. Just felt bad for the kids behind us that were 20+ who missed out. You guys up front kept it tight, no doubt... it was the pricks that bombed the door/line and skipped into the line after the doors opened that I'm talking about

FAILE: Decade of Prints & Originals - LA ART SHOW, by Coach on Jun 26, 2011 12:56:06 GMT 1, Wow. Show looks amazing. Agree with you top 3 Faile's Harveyn, though Happens Every Day would be top of my list. That book version you picked up rkitek is just super! The pricing sounds very reasonable on a lot of these pieces, more so than some of the recent online releases imo. How much were the book covers? (I know someone posted a link to the price list, but my old pc wont open it). Well done to everyone that picked up something purdy! V jeleous! c

That's an understatement. They look like poor prefab images. I love Faile and this show looks insane but these prints are meh.
