Banksy channel 4, by Rolex on Jul 24, 2011 23:59:04 GMT 1, Hi all,can anyone elaborate on a rumour I've heard that banksy was approached by channel 4 to do a documentary for a programme on street art . He apparently said he would only do it if it was for a whole evening's worth of viewing , apparently they said ok. So I believe it is to be aired in August sometime . Is this complete crap or has the rumour got any mileage in it ... Thoughts anyone.

Re ETGS and the comment. One tongue in cheek me thinks and two this could well be his documentary.

...respectfully, this is nonsense, if they did have a chance at access to Banksy why would they jeopardise it in this way? especially in the context of an entire evening about street art where presumably he won't be the only artist wary of exposure/publicity

They take on shows that other channel wouldn't dare and they like to push broadcasting boundaries, not for the sake of it, but because no one else will take the helm. They are at the forefront of an evolving business. This would be right up their street so to speak. It's a bit too dangerous and urban for the BBC to tackle but that's what the original rumour stated.

someone should tell them that the whole thing was fabricated between banksy and robbo then to help an old contemporary. If the fact that his illness has now got more serious and publicised didn't get alarm bells ringing, then i don't know what it will take.

Fast forward to horseferry rd new owners new rules allegedly but it may still go on

...I deal with Commissioning Editors on a weekly basis and have a enough of knowledge of the programme-making process to know that stuff doesn't go on today, it's a small industry and betraying trusts in that way would jeopardise any chance of access to anyone else in the future.
I'm fully aware of outrageous examples of media behaviour in the '80's... I still don't see how they bear any relevance to what we are talking about here.

But that said, lord whali is good friends with keith vaz the most slipperiest person in politics along with Mandy and archer so I doubt it's all above board just look at the big brother racist saga....that show had the lowest ratings ever for bb and they were about to pull it, then along comes the slug(vaz) and starts asking questions in the house, cue media frenzy then the ratings go through the roof..not only my opinion but Ian hislops too and many others , don't have to put allegedly as this is well out in the open,
