Banksy 2010, by Trevorm on Jul 25, 2011 11:33:27 GMT 1, I'm OK about the queuing. It kinda gets 'the wife' out and some fresh(ish) air in her lungs - might try and borrow a sleeping bag her this time.

Banksy 2010, by rowan on Jul 25, 2011 12:55:53 GMT 1, I was all set for travelling down to London, then the next thing i know... All the prints were gone and it all went to rat sh*t...
I don't mind putting in the hours q'ing but lets hope its sorted out this year!... My walls are in much need of a Banksy and the 2nd Mark Prices are a little out of my budget just now!

Banksy 2010, by rottenredrooster on Jul 25, 2011 13:51:28 GMT 1, If the procedure is followed at the NBG release then all will be fine.
Had some people not randomly started queueing outside M&S and waited for the go ahead I'm sure half the chaos wouldn't have happened.

Banksy 2010, by idris on Jul 25, 2011 17:32:10 GMT 1, Well it will be interesting to see if queuing is allowed at all next time - why not an entire release via lottery? I've only ever done an over nighter at BRP a long time ago and that was fun.

the choas wouldnt of happened if pow just hired some staff to monitor the queue. there was no security, and with a all night queue with no ticket system for a banksy will always cause trouble. the NBG was perfect as it was all in place.

You completely ignored my point. People just started queuing outside M&S... Whereas NBG was arranged for that specific date.

If the staff at Marks & Stencils didn't want to release the print that weekend / didn't want people to queue..they should have informed them that the print was not being released that particular weekend and to go home!
The POW staff made it hard on themselves. Clear communication (which is not a hard thing to do) would have made the release a whole lot smoother last year.

Banksy 2010, by naughtyshorty on Nov 1, 2011 13:48:34 GMT 1, nbg was a great experience and a really good vibe throughout. im not sure why releases happen only in dec though - a summer release would be much better all round. for a guerilla artist, he is possibly getting a little predicatable..
going back to the good old web page days wouldnt be a bad thing either!!!

Banksy 2010, by sand on Nov 1, 2011 13:54:38 GMT 1, November & December is never a great time to be on this forum...lots of jealousy / spite / grievance / disputes.
And it's amazing how many people come out the woodwork when a Banksy print release is announced.
I'd rather hear a good discussion about all the cracking shows coming up than Banksy print release speculation / aftermath.
It will be interesting to see what goes down after last years debacle, that's for sure.
Hopefully some lessons were learnt by both POW staff and fans. You can't solely lay the blame with POW..they're damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Who cares about exhibitions and street pieces its all about the Banksy release , and the fast buck to be made. Banksy should release more prints and leave the street its so 2006

Banksy 2010, by Sundowner on Nov 1, 2011 14:44:44 GMT 1, They have always been friday night queues. I heard somewhere that simon even said that queuing wont happen anymore.
From memory the queue for Flags was on a Sunday night/Monday morning and with regards to queuing not happening any more, I have heard exactly the opposite and POW know queuing works providing it is managed properly.
At the end of the day, I believe the artist has input (and possibly the final say) around how his prints are released.

There's 2 schools of though on this, and I don't know if it was ever got to the bottom of!
1. Someone at POW let slip that the release would be that day... hence the sudden, unexplained queue that formed.
2. A totally random queue formed, purely on speculation, and POW made the last minute decision to go ahead launch the print
Either way, POW made a bit of a mistake... at least in the sense of keeping many customers happy... but at the end of the day, everybody involved makes their own choices! No one's forced to queue, and no one's under obligation to make it easy... would just be nice if they did!

Banksy 2010, by Neate Michael on Nov 1, 2011 17:54:34 GMT 1, I still don't see why Banksy does not do an timed release, money to charity etc...
A queue is all well and good for those in London, but not much help for those of us further afield.
Anyway, who is to say that Banksy will release a print this year? He may not, now he's gone all Hollywood.

Didn't the genie get out of the bottle last year because the VIP editions were launched on the Thursday night and then grafik and his mate photographed some of the other colourways through POW's basement window?

I think the VIP night, which I'm not sure anyone has ever confirmed with photos of the night or pics of the prints, only became known after... but may well have been the start of whispers that turned into the mysterious queue.
Grafik did see them through the window, but at that point no one knew if it meant a release that night or not.

i think your more clever then that to ask that question....
.....or was it a plea.
just for the record I would prefer a limited edition over a timed release whether i manage to get one or not.

Correct!
They then went on to discuss the merits of certain female members of POW staff in the same thread as the phone pictures (including said staff too) Classy guy..
Good? to see you making your annual posts OP
