I think it is a stunning print. And being from edition of 50 I've always wondered why it hasn't been sold out earlier.

I have seen both and went for BG. They're both excellent but BG is more to my taste-simple yet beautiful. At the end of the day it comes down to individual preferences. Would be nice to have both though

Nearer ยฃ10k I would think.....
Spoke to them yesterday and manged to pick up one of the last 2 'We Come in Peace' ;D. There was 1 left as of 6pm last night...
The other 2 are sold out and unless you placed your order early last week it sounded like you would not be a lucky one.... They were actually refunding cards....

Bomber girl - all gone, by ABC on Jul 18, 2007 22:40:04 GMT 1, I'm not being cynical its just fact that these were being classed as a ridiculously over priced a while back. Since the Rise in Micallef prints values these have been snapped up without a thought for the 4.7k price tag. I know only a hand-full of people who bought them the week they were released, since then they have sat on the shelf until now that is when some can clearly see a profit in them. Am I wrong? I don't think so. After reading these posts over the last few weeks I reckon all of the remaining were sold to forum members. I do love them, all in fact, but at that price you can keep em. Id rather spend my money on something that no one else has got.

f**k that.
i'll have pics in the next couple of weeks DM, don't worry, i'll be splashing them on the site. and my address. and alarm code.
ABC - just caught you're next post. Know where you're coming from. I'd like to say i replied instantly to the original laz email, so bought mine in feb, the day they finally worked through the list to me. But as you say, the price tag looks normal now but still high and i'm defintely investing what i was going to spend on bomber girl into an original instead. Horses for courses though aint it, you can't blame people for seeing the potential of these prints.

Bomber girl - all gone, by Danger Mouse on Jul 19, 2007 9:16:17 GMT 1, Hey crackawacka
Looking forward to seeing pics of them framed, and anyone elses for that matter.
So with Judgement Day increasing from 300 GBP to 2500 GBP in just 6 months and an edition of 500, what do people think the Laz prints currently at 4700 GBP will be worth following the LA exhibition, bearing in mind they are limited to just 50 each?
I'm a big fan of Banksy but think Micallef could possibly outshine him following the exhibition. What do others think?

Bomber girl - all gone, by jipsy on Jul 19, 2007 9:26:27 GMT 1, IMO the Micallef prints are outstanding but I do feel that starting at 4700 the potential for huge banksy style profit is low, simply because the amount of potential buyers has been slashed dramatically by this already high asking price. Get them framed and simply enjoy them. Still waiting for someone to post a framed one.

It's an unfair comparrison, given their different styles. Although if you mean in terms of price, then I would disagree. Micallef's work is fantastic and will always be collected, but Banksy's work is quite rightly viewed as something a bit special and I'm not sure that such regard is easy to achieve. That said, I do believe that AM's prices will keep on rising, due to demand and a fairly scarce supply, but don't think his work will outshine Banksy's.

Bomber girl - all gone, by Danger Mouse on Jul 19, 2007 9:35:55 GMT 1, I agree that the starting price was much higher than Banksys were a good few years ago, but when you compare this limited run of 50 against Banksy's Radar Rat that was limited to a run of 75, which was sold for 15,000 GBP last month then I think the chances of the Laz Micallef prices increasing to a similar price or even higher isn't out of the question.

Bomber girl - all gone, by Danger Mouse on Jul 19, 2007 9:52:09 GMT 1, stuey09, 'Outshine' was probably the wrong word to use as Banksy does have that special something about him, and your right Banksy and AM are two totally different styles, but I think the future looks good for AM what with the LA exhibition later this year and then a worldwide tour with the British Museum, he is bound to get much more known and hence the demand for his work increase. I just wish I had got a few of his prints a month or so ago when I was thinking about them. I had the chance to buy "My Walk in Harajuku" for 2000 GBP then and now its going on ebay for 4000GBP with 5 days still to go. The chances of me ever owning one now are very unlikely.

Bomber girl - all gone, by ABC on Jul 19, 2007 20:50:26 GMT 1, It has nothing to do with starting prices, thats just clever marketing. The recent sales at Sothebys is also a clever move, getting him ready for the US market. Its all about PR and Laz is very good at it, as for comparing, IMO they are very different in so many ways. When do you see Micallef using Stencils? you don't, he paints free hand with all methods of mediums he can get his hands on, Banksy however uses stencil and spray most of the time as IMO his free hand is not up to the same standard. In their own way they are very effective artists. The only thing in common with their art is Laz, thats about it. There is a lot of moaning about price raises on here which I agree is annoying but Micallef has been around for a long time and Eyestorm couldn't shift them last year so why didn't people buy then?, Not being smug but I bought a few prints before the hype because I loved his style of painting (turned down 4 of 5 canvases as they were to expensive at around 2k)
At which time only a small handful of people were talking about him and thats the way it stayed for a long while, I didn't once think he would blow up like this, amazing what a bit of hype and PR can do to an artist. Art is about buying what you like and regardless of who the artist is, if its good and in the right mediums (Oils etc) what you buy normally rises in value slowly over time. These dramatic prices rises are a phenomenon and nothing more IMO. Ive been into art for 20 years and this is a first for these types of escalation IMO.

My sentiments exactly.
I got into Micallef a year or so ago a good wee bit before his Laz show, so i got me some of the Eyestorms (21CL, My Walk And HFUNG) all for less than 1k.
Just wish I'd had the money back then to buy a canvas, however I have 4 prints inc Bomber Girl, so I'm not all that upset.
My mate who works for a computer game company up here in Edinburgh (it doesn't take much to work out what company that is) and one of the head guys has a stoopidly fat house and a good couple of original Micallefs. Gunna have to get myself invited to his next big party! (probably around 16th Oct....)
