Ebay scam!!!!???Hope not., by jipsy on Jul 5, 2007 12:36:49 GMT 1, I was the highest bidder for "Barcode" on ebay last week (330136764580).
I foolishly transferred the cash (over 8 grand) direct to the sellers account and haven't seen the print or heard from the seller in days. He said I should have had it by Tuesday and it was sent using DHL. I hope it's a simple case of DHL imcompetence.
To put it polite I am shitting myself. I convinced my wife that this would look great in our flat and not to worry about the credit card bill. What a f*ckin nightmare.

I assume you have his phone number, postal address etc ( if not pull no. from ebay) & ring him for some straight ansers asap...
Did you check he is who he says he is, is the print insured & for future reference ebays standard protection policy would result in F**k all being returned..

Did you pay by Paypal. The seller is a powerseller so not quite that bad.
Failing all other avenues fail and no joy from Emalis and contacts with seller , File a complaint with police and get a ref number. Contact Ebay tell them U suspect fraud and have lodged it with police. Ebay will cooperate and where required will give you sellers details and address as they are Power Seller. Get in touch with seller. Write letters, recorded delivery. Then lodge a County court claim against seller for the sum. U can claim for up to 15000.

As far as I know even a cash transfer takes a few days - so maybe the seller was waiting for the money to clear?
There was a thread a while back about somebody who had got a damaged Dface print - I can't remember the details - but somebody on here knew quite a bit about bank transfers, and what you could do.

Even if it is bad news then there there is propably quite a bit you can still do. There must be a way of getting his address, even if it means contacting everyone that has ever given them feedback.

For large purchases you can use an escrow account. Just for that extra piece of mind.

But seriously, he isn't supposed to charge you ebay or paypal fees. Against the rules. Christ the guy just made a $16,000 profit and he's too cheap to pay fees ?!?!

The guys name is Richard and i emailed him on the original listing. He seemed pretty genuine so you just need to establish contact.
Even a trip down to hs house, for that money it's worth it!

As relieved and happy as I am I still never received 1 reply from the seller over the past days even though I've been frantically mailing him and calling his mobile.
Lesson learned.

Now I need to convince my better half that we may need some Micallef work to go with the Banksy.
