Stik Plaques, by hunter007 on Aug 3, 2011 9:57:01 GMT 1, not moaning mate, having a discussion. not everything has to be the way you want it to be or else people are moaning. the gallery could end up getting less with ebay fees. If they listed it on their site for 300 vs it selling on ebay for 300 the difference is significant with bloody ebay.
that was'nt directed at anyone, i was just saying you cant please all, ignor the moaning part, just there for added affect

disregarding the tone in your post, the reason i really like stik is because it's so prevalent where i live (east london) and everyday i walk by my favorite one on my way to work.
even though i can enjoy his street work every day, i'd love to have one for not only now, but when i eventually move back to the states.

Stik Plaques, by twist65 on Aug 3, 2011 11:22:16 GMT 1, I think the idea is that it gets auctioned on eBay direct by the gallery, so that the items sell for the maximum amount they would be flipped for afterwards, so this way they can't be flipped. So if both go for say £200ish, then that would appear to be their secondary market value so there would be no point buying one and relisting for £300 as there wouldn't be the demand at that price. It's quite simple and a good idea by Squarity. It does give everyone a chance too - the other ones went in seconds on Squarity website so I missed out, whereas this way I have a chance. Whats the problem folks???

Stik Plaques, by xmyart on Aug 3, 2011 11:32:58 GMT 1, well no not really, they are the original source. All they have done is ensure the ebay listing now says "original cost for Squarity gallery Was £2xx or £3xx or £4xx . All a flipper does is add a premium to the cost from source as they are now unavailable. If it goes to a flipper for 250 it will be back here at 400. instead going from 75 to 250 like the blue ones.

I bought one of the Blue one on ebay (last week) at £175 just to give you an indication...

agree.
in a few days/weeks/months it'll read 'really regret selling this beautify but car/wife/job needs make me...£400 for a quick sale'.
again, we had this conversation on the other stik thread...i don't think there's anything wrong with flipping so really this reads as a way to get the most money for the gallery (fine with that too...really, fine with anyone maximising their profit, call me a free market capitalist).
Ryan, does the price you paid Stik change depending on the price this goes for?

Stik Plaques, by twist65 on Aug 3, 2011 11:44:36 GMT 1, so what your saying is that squarity should charge say £125 for the gold ones knowing full well they will be flipped for £250-£300. Instead of listing them in an auction letting the pieces establish their own true value. If someone is prepared to pay £400 for one, they will do that now, not wait for them to be sold for £250, then relisted by a flipper at a higher price! If they go for £250, no-ones going to pay £400 in a few weeks time anyway...

Stik Plaques, by eschiff on Aug 3, 2011 11:48:17 GMT 1, so what you're saying is that there's a price that something can be set at at which it won't flip? I would disagree.
There are 3 people that can get this right? There are probably dozens (hundreds?) who want it. Some may miss out cause of the price, many will miss out cause of the auction format.

Stik Plaques, by Squarity on Aug 3, 2011 12:40:36 GMT 1, Whatever the outcome of the auctions it will not affect the price of the next print, plaque or statue we plan to release. These are the last ones that will be openely available and so we decided they would be auctioned off.
squarity.blogspot.com/
BLANC plaques...
Some will be given to friends of the artist and some sold to private collectors. You never know a few may appear online...
Thanks to everyone for the support and watch out for news on future projects with a new artist (or two).

Stik Plaques, by Squarity on Aug 3, 2011 15:46:16 GMT 1, it was closed because of its advertising of ebay listing and its against the rules. the auction is over now and so it is unlocked.

Stik Plaques, by twist65 on Aug 3, 2011 18:15:12 GMT 1, yeah i'm probably wrong but I don't see why someone would pay £400 for one of these in a few months time when the 2 auctions suggest their "value" is £200 - if I thought it was a must-buy and had £400 to spend then I would have bidded up to £400 today and won it!
eg - if Banksy released new prints at their "true market value" of say 3k instead of £450, I don't think you would see loads on eBay for 10k+. Naturally you would get a few chancers and a few people desperate for the image willing to pay, but by and large they would just be bought at source by collectors wanting them on their walls and not flippers who can see a quick and easy profit with no risk. Not that i'm suggesting he does that!!
