Antony Micallef • 21st Century Love, by jp on Aug 31, 2007 9:37:49 GMT 1, Oh man I feel really bad for the person who gets this print. It has a very long and bad story behind it.
I bought this print from Opus Art back in January and it was an absolute nightmare of a transaction (worst buying experience in my entire life). First, it arrived damaged, with a puncture directly through the left wing (I have photos). On top of that, it is dry mounted to foamcore, which makes restoration more difficult. My framer took a look and called in a conservation specialist, who gave me a detailed report. I hadn't noticed the yellowish corners, which, according to the specialist, were probably from a previous frame job. So I was sold a used, dry-mounted print, that arrived damaged. So yeah, this print has serious issues and none of this is disclosed in the description.
There was also a lot of political BS that I went through trying to get this print back to the UK, and in the end my credit card company went to bat and refunded all of my money. It was then held up in customs for several months (and was almost abandoned!), only to finally appear on ebay
This print really should have been destroyed. I would have never said any of this publicly but I don't want anyone else to get burned by this and go through what I went through.

Antony Micallef • 21st Century Love, by Harveyn on Aug 31, 2007 20:33:47 GMT 1, Mike Did you hear anything back from the seller?
This has reached £6600 and if it is damaged to the extent describe there must be some way of reporting it to ebay. Dry mounted is bad enough but with fade around the edges and a hole (none have been detailed in the auction) this is going to be a disastrous purchase for someone.
This is appalling .....if true

Antony Micallef • 21st Century Love, by Alan Craig on Oct 7, 2007 12:01:36 GMT 1, No it doesn't mean I'll cancel the auction. It will run to the end. The offers I had here were not as good as I would have liked, hence putting it on the bay, in the hope of getting a better price (knowing also it could mean going for a worse price then I've already been offered here). A bit of a risk I guess, but I hope to get a good price. Cheers
