The desription says it all really, a great collection in its own right, the banksy print alone can set you back a fair bit, The steadman stuff is excellent, rare cauty print, rare banksy, really wish I had thought to get one when they came out, a full set is quite hard to find as a lot of them were separated to sell for individual prints, here are the 2 steadman prints from the set.

ha ha , you're quite funny tonight mono. High Fidelity, fuck off !!! I run a music festival and a street art/graf festival.. so yeah, I have a slight interest in banksy, decks & trainers (by the score). As do the people who I buy, trade and make work with. Including pretty much every artist currently hitting up the streets or being discussed on here.
What the fuck do you wear if you don't wear trainers ? fuck, you're a Goth arn't you..those big black boots with metal plates on the front
But anyway, you're way off target if you think I "invest" in Banksy's, quite the opposite mate.

, yeah, just messin. I'm sure we're both smiling whilst typing. I do usually agree 100% with mono's rants against bankers, speculators, investors and the manic church of consumerism. But, mono's changed his opinion on unsigned editions and now thinks everyone's being scammed for buying glorified unsigned posters.. I disagree. Its gallery sales speak.

yep.. but i guess people get rightly pissed not being able to nab an affordable Banksy from POW these days.. but I think even if you took away each and every investor from the next print queue, you'd still have mayhem. There's more than enough want it for the wall.

I am in the process of selling of the Banksy print with the box and camo etc ( at around ยฃ1600 at the moment unless someone else bids !!! or offers me more, but you better be quick ) The last Banksy print on its own to sell without the box went for ยฃ1200 ish I think
The sets are quite nice with some great prints in them

The great bansky ebay con trick, by monochrome on Jan 22, 2007 0:49:22 GMT 1, i think you are missing the point..... not for the first time this evening.
some guy posts 'unsigned will rise'. i say they won't.
i then get lectured how this is 'different art' which hints at the poorest excuse ever. then all start mentioning prices, values etc - i personally don't give a damn if you all have 20 signed banksys, 50 pairs of rare trainers... you'll still have compensations for something small in your pants. probably.
anyway,no artist (living) has managed to shift an unsigned print for the kind of money we are talking about here - that is my only point. no one has come along and suggested otherwise yet i'm 'wrong'.
i wear shoes. trainers are for children or for playing sport.

The great bansky ebay con trick, by mido on Jan 22, 2007 1:24:55 GMT 1, Not getting involved in all this but just a few facts.
1) from 200 book sales, 4 free graffiti tours, various other bit & bobs, and over 500 photo sales, the split has been about half and half male & female (surprises me as well, but it's true)
2) I'm quite happy thank you sitting here looking at my ยฃ75 unsigned banksy. Not a glimmer of sadness on my face at not getting many signed ones. And rather happy I bought quite a few this time last year before it all went crazy I rarely buy anything above the cost price.
Sorry to shatter yours too. New movement, new buyers, new market, new rules.. f**k the art world of old.. no one pays for the tagging and graf on the walls, why should we pay for it on a bit of paper, it's a modernist myth set up to play you.. ;D Signed being more illustrious is just a bolloxy way to squeeze more cash out of people.. art of the past was rarely signed.. doesn't make it less valuable does it. Thanks for the free lecture. So show me unsigned prints going for the same values. Of course, this is a new 'movement', but it's just a bunch of grown up record collectors spending their obsessive pennies elsewhere. Look at the forum, male, mid 20s-mid40s, probably all into music, and possibly football, probably like nice trainers too. It's a marketing dream and the only suckers, yes suckers buying unsigned prints is THIS crowd, ie. me, you, and everyone else. The real big time charlies with millions to spend each year would never touch this s**t. Now show me these high valued unsigned prints.

The great bansky ebay con trick, by pezlow on Jan 22, 2007 10:11:58 GMT 1, Correct me if I am wrong but aren't a lot of Warhol prints unsigned. Also a lot of Salvador Dali's late prints weren't signed by him, or even made by him - just authorised - and they fetch a pretty penny.
Further a lot of the stuff made by artists - whether they are great old masters like carravagio or da vinci, or contemporary artists such as Hirst, Koons or warhol is/was made in the artists studios with precious little involvement by the actual artist who is nominally the make of the piece.
So I think there is a precedent for the unsigned banksys to be good long term investments. But as many have said that only matter if you are looking to sell your art. I for one have never sold a piece of art I have bought and I doubt that I will for the foreseeable. But you would have to be very rich or very very anti-capitalist not to ever think about what the value of your collection is and I think that few of us could honestly say we haven't thought about it...
By the way I fit the demographic perfectly as well!

The great bansky ebay con trick, by headphonesex on Jan 22, 2007 11:15:32 GMT 1, these forums are so self-prophesising!
previously people were quite happy just to have a print - signed or unsigned. Then a load of twats come on here (and the ebay forum) proclaiming that unsigned prints are worthless, and that it's signed or nothing, and suddenly no-one wants them. The unsigned prints go down in price & the signed ones fly up.
People buy these prints because they want a piece of art on their wall, not because they want a signature. And I think it's a bit nuts that someone would rather have a signed 'grannies' (for example) up than an unsigned 'Laugh Now', 'Love is in the Air' or 'Soup Can'. You think i'd swap my unsigned 'LIITA' and 'GWB' for a signed 'Love Rat'? Not a fucking chance.
Just buy what you like. If you can afford a signature, great. If not then don't fret about it. You'll still have the exact same picture on your wall.... it'll just won't be sullied by a scribble in the corner.
As for future values... well in comparison to the demand for his work, 500 is an amazingly small run. Think if Coldplay (spit) released a new record as a run of 500 7" singles....
Demand will always be higher than the available supply... particularly as more and more people discover Banksy. So prices will continue to rise IMO. Simple Economics.

The great bansky ebay con trick, by pezlow on Jan 22, 2007 11:25:14 GMT 1, There are lots of Dali fakes that is true but also there were a lot of prints made late in Dali's life that were specifically authorised by him but he had no involvement over the creative process. Whether you would call these fakes or not is a matter for debate but my point is that the comment that there is no precedent for an unsigned print to have any value is wrong. This is not an inflexible rule and it also ignores the fact that the artworld is forever changing and adapting to new methods of working.
Now I come to think of it I can think of numerous well-known photographers who do not sign their editions as well and they still have value.

The great bansky ebay con trick, by ogrgel on Jan 22, 2007 13:24:03 GMT 1, ogrgel Foundation says it all really. This was issued by the aquarium gallery and was limited to 100 pieces. I am in the process of selling of the Banksy print with the box and camo etc ( at around ยฃ1600 at the moment unless someone else bids !!! or offers me more, but you better be quick ) The last Banksy print on its own to sell without the box went for ยฃ1200 ish I think The sets are quite nice with some great prints in them

The great bansky ebay con trick, by Curley on Jan 22, 2007 13:47:59 GMT 1, Agree with you dirtypete that it doesn't matter if you are hanging these on your walls. I think one of the most interesting things to know would be how many of the pieces in the "What Banksy Pieces Do You Have??" thread are actually framed? I'm proud to say that 4 of my 6 are!
All framed and all up on my walls. could not care less what they are worth. At the end of the day all art is only worth what some one is prepared to pay for it. ;D
