RAE BK πΊπΈ Brooklyn New York Street Artist, by pcant on Sept 19, 2013 11:53:29 GMT 1, I like the energy, I like the layers of paint (it's subtle, but there's a lot going on). And the face, which (to me, anyway) tells a story of longing and addiction, kind of makes me uncomfortable, which I like. Just my two cents.

His style is raw, playful and makes me smile and the more I see the more taken I am with his work and I don't even own an original!

RAE BK πΊπΈ Brooklyn New York Street Artist, by raindogs on Sept 19, 2013 13:07:16 GMT 1, are these "potraits" supposed to suggest something , or are they of actual people. Or are they literally randomly drawn faces in a street styley ? just wanting to know really. Are they like tribal characters , a bit like Cranio's figures ?. Cheers peeps . and do you all like them because you think they look cool or what ? its the drips and rawness is it ? cheers people s, curious one. Hunter, I've seen a thread with some of your stuff for sale. Please explain us why do you like those artworks when you bought them (btw I like some of them too). Just curiosity. Cheers

RAE BK πΊπΈ Brooklyn New York Street Artist, by Deleted on Sept 19, 2013 15:39:57 GMT 1, There are often cryptic words, numbers and phrases in RAE's work. Even just the titles suggest there is meaning behind the faces. What I like about his work is that no two ever seem to be the same (except for prints series of course). One of them on the last page says "Trust No 1". Another says "It's like glass cutting and transparent". Obviously meaning there.
I read an interview he did somewhere that the piece below was related to this traegdy: www.nytimes.com/2011/07/14/nyregion/arrest-made-in-brooklyn-killing-of-leiby-kletzky.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0
Makes sense. It says "Leiby"

RAE BK πΊπΈ Brooklyn New York Street Artist, by raindogs on Sept 19, 2013 15:47:31 GMT 1, Hunter, no offence! On the other side thank you for your detailed reply: I like an artwork for various reasons similar to yours. Maybe in RAE there is more than nice colours etc. But basically I like his work for the reasons others explained. I am not an art critic or an art investor, my choices are mainly... emotional. BTW RAE doesn't pretend to change the world. Read this interview .

Anarquee you beat me to the comment! Hunter007, sometimes the most "simplest" thing is the most complex. If you are in fact an architect you should understand that. And your attempt at duplicating a RAE sketch shows exactly that.
I think you do understand that but like just messing around
