Fragments of Faile - Lazarides London - 3rd Nov, by elwheel on Nov 4, 2011 1:54:09 GMT 1, Interesting show... Isn't this really just an oversized flyer for the show? I mean, it has the name of the show, the gallery name, the location, and the date. If it was smaller, I wouldn't be surprised to find it stuck under my windshield wiper. As for the new work, it certainly is a new direction. It looks to me like a heavily sedated version of BAST, combined with elements of Paul Insect.
Awesome print IMO - so framable/hangable. Fuck the naysayers

Fragments of Faile - Lazarides London - 3rd Nov, by rperry on Nov 4, 2011 4:48:15 GMT 1, That print is clearly an original artists poster for the show. While it may have value in the future it will not equate to print prices. I started collecting with the French Modern Masters posters. My favorite Picasso poster circa '56 for a show is worth 2,000 US on a good day while a print is well over 10,000 US on a bad day.
So... it's a god quality poster... not a print.

Fragments of Faile - Lazarides London - 3rd Nov, by alexnh123 on Nov 4, 2011 10:59:23 GMT 1, terrible. insulting prices. insulting postage costs. text doesn't even fit on the poster. What is it with bast and faile both putting on poor UK shows this year? The painting around the images looks so contrived, but then again, what did we expect from a couple of artists who can't actually paint?

Fragments of Faile - Lazarides London - 3rd Nov, by balibob on Nov 4, 2011 11:09:52 GMT 1, A real difference of opinion on the show. For me its pretty much the same as most artists work, some I like, some I don't. The good thing is that everyone who wants a print can get one, which is to be applauded, and at the price and availability the flippers are screwed. Is this the way forward Mr B?

Fragments of Faile - Lazarides London - 3rd Nov, by jusdeep on Nov 4, 2011 11:16:04 GMT 1, Jeez there's some bitter people on here this morning with lots of negative comments. You may not like the show but I personally liked the majority of the work. I always like it when an artist such as Bast or Faile make a jump in a new direction. You may not like it every time, but if you did they'd still be producing the same work as ten years ago and would be chastised for not doing anything fresh.
I much prefer this body of work to Faile's Native Indian and Bedtime stories series, but always relish their earlier works, which if I had the money would always go for over any of their work over the last 3 or 4 years.
Affordable book covers, signed prints, blocks (which in my opinion are far stronger than their other releases) and a new direction in their originals. People on here have to remember an artists career spans over many years and this show, whether you like it or not is a nanosecond in their hopefully long career. Great show, always good when it divides and brings up some interesting debate, but stop with the hating.

Fragments of Faile - Lazarides London - 3rd Nov, by sand on Nov 4, 2011 11:47:28 GMT 1, I went last night with an open mind, and I left distinctly underwhelmed by it all.
It was nothing new or particularly exciting. Mediocre at best. I had expected a lot more.
Sometimes I wonder if people view the art or the name attached to it.

Fragments of Faile - Lazarides London - 3rd Nov, by MGK1 on Nov 4, 2011 11:47:52 GMT 1, i really really liked this show regardless of what everyone else thinks
no-one can argue that it takes balls for an artist to change their style like this so i respect faile massively for going through with it. I think it'll just take people a while to adjust to their new stuff
it was an amazing show - well worth a visit

Fragments of Faile - Lazarides London - 3rd Nov, by chaturz on Nov 4, 2011 12:15:18 GMT 1, A few comments here about the well priced print however the image itself wasnt great (just my opinion ofcourse) I would have far preferred one of the post no bills pasters which is unlimited and only $10 to this £45 print. I just feel if you want to make a cheap print so your art is accessible you may as well make it a decent image the majority would like. If the name faile wasnt attached to it I wonder how many would take a second glance.
That being said from the pics there did some to be a few nice pieces about, a shame the affordable book covers were all presold to VIPs (not impressed)

couldn't agree more with all of that. Also I think whichever flavour of Faile your into - or budget you have - its been a really good year for getting your hands on something. Imagine if banksy did 2 cheap open editions, a show of bold new originals, a show of classic imagery all available to buy, and also some awesome street work and top end originals...

Agree its all about the name on these prints, I dont understand why they made this look like a promo poster for the show, The old Pink bunny girls and Captivating prints from POW were miles better and half the cost of these. Why go through all the effort to make an affordable print but make it look this bad?? I dont get it ?

Personally I hated the look of the post no bills posters. These £45 prints really are just like their full priced prints. Same thick paper, same thick layered screen printing (not like the POW prints. More like their own). Only difference is no coffee stains or hand painting. Bargain!

I couldn't agree more, a brave jump in a new direction. It was really interesting see something new, whether all their work from now on should stay in that style is another question but I really liked the show. Its nice to see their artistic abilities come out on canvas, rather than through design and screen prints. The display of book covers, and work on wood was incredible too!

Or that they are availiable and unlimited so no need to try and flip ? Of course the signed ones is a different storey, give it time once the hype has built a little more then you will see a couple on the Bay, wait for a few more people to ask to buy this on here for over cost , .
I need this print in my life , wow great in the flesh , Willing to trade for unsigned bansky , will swap for any on list below,.

Fragments of Faile - Lazarides London - 3rd Nov, by rperry on Nov 4, 2011 13:12:28 GMT 1, Someone's Jealous
Not jealous at all... I actually quite like the poster. Perhaps it's just semantics but I was pointing out that people were talking about a show poster as a print.
As an original show poster it is not photo-reproduced, it has the name of the show, the date of the show and the location of the show and an image created for that poster. And the cost goes in line with being a poster.
At the last show they did 2 s/n prints and gave away/sold post no bills pasters with prices in line for what each item was.
