Very poor work for a 'high profile' artist!

I think it's horrid; aesthetically unpleasing and lacking any sentiment.

For me, he's an artist who has stagnated over the last 3 years.

I would love for him to prove me wrong, but every piece I have seen in the last couple of years has been poor..and the 'In Gods We Trust' show he had last year was terrible.

And what happened to him leaving the vandal imagery alone? I swear he said he was going to have a change in direction after the book show at BRP a few years back.

Agree with Sand on this one - aesthetically unpleasing....it hurts my eyes to look at it.

I think that's quite tasty. Very nice not sure why he gets so much stick on here.

Think it is very detailed and good to see that he is putting that kind of detail into his work

Unfortunately a lot of galleries will prefer to sell works by a 'big name' rather than take the risk and showcase a 'up and comer'.

It's a shame as there are a lot of talented artists out there..but I guess they're not appealing as they're not as profitable.

Looking at the recent Blek show and now this piece, it reinforces my opinion that most stencil art doesn't really work in a gallery / canvas context.

I would be really interested to hear the reason why people find this piece appealing?

The piece leaves me cold. Unlike Banksy's work there is no humour, there is no statement. It has no heart.

yes. What is your question? Now, before you answer that, put in a little work. Ask what the piece means to you, your buddy, your friend. It is not just a well executed piece of graffiti/art/sign making history, but a running commentary on life/love/relationships.

furthermore, Mr. Steve Powers has a CV that you could bury nick walker with and his work is probably half the price. Nick walker has done nothing with his career aside from take your hard earned money. Steve is part of a community and gives back far more than he takes.

My point being, art shouldn't just be a pretty picture( or in this case a shitty one). It should make you think, it should spark conversation or introspection. It should cause you to see the world in a new way. If your spending over $500 on art and it isn't doing any of these you are throwing away your money. You can buy work similar to nick's for a tenner on the bowery. Youre paying way too much for a name that no one will know or care about in a few years time. Great, if you can afford to, but I can't. There is just too much quality to support out there that giving this work more than a millisecond of notice is too long.

Arty just take all your quotes and put them on your own for sale thread and they fit perfectly. Your are entitled to your opinion but to be honest it's pretty lame. Not everyone likes or dillies everything that's the point.

The fact that it's cheaper and people are not buying is not NW fault. People pay for pieces whatever it's up to them.
