FUNNY THING THAT ART ISN'T IT, ARTIST TAKES MUNDANE AND CALLS IT ART, BUT IS IT? PEGGY THINKS THAT WHEN DUCHAMP MADE FOUNTAIN IN 1919 JBOY WOULD HAVE QUESTIONED WHY A PISSER WAS BEING PALMED OFF AS ART.

No worries, I googled him as well.

SPQR said to think of these as "potential sculptures" and I really like that concept.

Mark Jenkins ๐บ๐ธ Sculpture โข Street Installation, by highinla on Jun 29, 2010 16:14:43 GMT 1, so because Banksy does work on canvas does not mean he should release a signed and numbered edition of blank canvases! I get that mark does tape sculptures, however... I don't think you collectors need to buy signed sculpture supplies or ext. Whats next Uline boxes and trash bags?
Its always fun and exciting to get an object signed by the artist that is significant to the artist, but this shouldn't be abused...

One last time for those who don't get it....
Over the past years, Mark has had dozens of requests for signed tape rolls. This was the main factor for releasing these. I see no abuse taking place by fulfilling fan requests.
This release is also another way for Mark to offer something to his fans that is reasonably priced and a very unique item.
Lots of collectors would buy a spray can signed by Saber, Cope2, SPQR, etc. The tape rolls are no different in my opinion. (or the opinion of the 15 people who have grabbed one of these already)
Thanks to all and keep your eyes open for other releases from Mark which I will let the forum know about in the upcoming months.
Best,
Dr. B

I get it. I think it is awesome that people are buying them as it is hard to keep them tucked away in a portfolio. Someone should buy the rest of them and make a sculpture.

Mark Jenkins ๐บ๐ธ Sculpture โข Street Installation, by Coach on Jun 29, 2010 19:31:42 GMT 1, Funny you should mention that Ross - was thinking about Polite Tape myself when reading this thread. Doubt anyone would argue that that is not art - maybe they would? Mate of mine has one, and I have been quitly watching for one for a while - think it would look great on the mantle piece. Mark Jenkins piece is no different imo, and needs no justification in my eyes - a fantastic artist. These are great for those that cant afford a canvass or sculpture, but want to own a piece by a serously good artist. Thanks

I am not sure how many people on here have met you , if you are a nice guy in real life and if you just try and wind people up for fun but you really are the most irritating little piece of filth that was ever shat from any mothers womb.
you like the lowest common denominator art and are now producing it...I am sure you have been the reason I have been banned here a couple of times because you make me see red when you wade in with your uniformed and uneducated keyboard diarrhea.
Go back to your space hopper prints and your new found love of mr brainwashnand leave the real street art appreciation to those that understand it.

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make... The Vader catalog is over 80 pages and retailed for $40 (might as well call it a book).... Are you trying to say I cannot sell a book-like object that features 100+ different artist and is signed by 25 of them? Stfu and mind your own business son.

OOO, NICE TO SEE THAT ANY FORM OF ARTISTIC CONCEPT IS TOTALLY LOST ON YOU. PEGGY CANNOT FOR THE LIFE OF HER UNDERSTAND YOUR OBSESSION WITH ART BEING EQUATED TO COST & VALUE. WHILST YOU MAY COMPLETELY BE LOST BY MARK'S TAPE & IT'S REFLECTION OF HIS WORK IN GENERAL, IT DOES NOT DEMEAN IT'S VALUE TO THOSE WHO LIKE HIS WORK. BY YOUR OWN REASONING WHAT IS BRAINWASH DOING WITH HIS TURGID OFFERINGS? THE BEAUTY OF ART IS IT'S ABILITY TO WORK BEYOND BOUNDARIES OF PRICE.

Not to stir things up more Jboy but you state things as facts when infact it's all subjective. I failed to see anything of merit with the recent pictures you posted thus kept schtum?(ish)

yes as boring as the man and his art. You can't fight mediocrity with anything other than mediocrity. You inspire nothing more old chap.
truth is you seem to have some sort of golden ticket from silky to piss off as many people as you can and never get reprimanded for it while others get banned/suspended for the same thing.
At the end of the day you are nothing more than a bee, buzzing round irritating people to the point of distraction. The distraction you create is that you have nothing worthwhile to say offer this forum or humankind in general.
