The mighty Spurs for me, and as much as I hate to say it, the old French geeez didn't do too bad for his first proper game for a year or so. To be honest I would have been surprised if he hadn't scored, written in the stars as they say.

Football thread, by richskara on Jan 10, 2012 14:56:25 GMT 1, You'd have thought Arsenal had won the FA cup with the completely over the top celebrations.
Nice to see it still means something to beat Leeds Utd
I am just debating whether to come down to Selhurst Park at the weekend for the match but a serious lie in has my name all over it as opposed to an up at the crack of dawn start to get down.

You would have thought he was the second coming with his ridiculous slow motion psoing as the final whistle went ha ha.
Have to say as well you lot are a boring bunch when it comes to chanting as well. Nearly as bad as Barcelona. Exciting football boring terraces.

Hahahahha, he is the second coming for us ;D Was an emotional night, the guy has been playing US football and not played much so to come and score in his first game, even if it was against Leeds is a big deal.... Well for Arsenal fans anyway
Have to agree on the terraces comment im ashamed to say, its not the same as Highbury thats for sure.... I used to be in the clock end at the old place, unfortunately when they issued the new season tickets they split everyone up so you just dont get the same level of noise you used too.... Been to Barcelona too so i know where your coming from there...

Fair enough! First ten minutes looked very bad for us - we had very little possession. Rest of game mostly evenly matched I thought, with a few periods of City being on top. The odd thing is, Palace seem suddenly, this season, to have learnt how to defend! Quite disconcerting, in a good way. I am so used to us throwing away leads in the last few minutes! Will be a good second leg. City have to throw everything at us, which could just leave you vulnuerable to our pacy youngsters like Zaha. Good game, good game!

Hmm! Most Palace fans have still not forgiven you lot for raising your game in the last game of the season, to get us relegated from the prem! Always an electric game though.

Was you at that game coach? I have to admit our lot were bang out of order that day. The level of hatred and gloating was f-ing horrible imo. Still, you paid us back more than a little when we went down from the championship. I think we're back next year fella, so a couple of heated exchanges on the cards.
Peace!

I also have happy memories of Crystal Palace at a Wembley Play off final, although mine is from the oppositions point of view as it was when Leicester secured their place in the Premier league after we brought on a 6ft 8 giant goal keeper just before the end. Palace just stood looking (thinking what the f#ck is that) while journey man and professional scruff Steve Claridge shinned one in at the other end. It might make painfully viewing but were you there?

Thanks mate, we are playing some great football considering our players are on a maximum of 20k a week & majority have played in lower leagues we are doing way better than I expected.. Long way until May but we just brought in 2 great midfielders on loan to help the cause, this Josh Mceachran Chelsea youngster looks the real deal... Weve got them up next at home, they smashed us 4-1 at theirs
