grey invader print not as described ebay help, by Deleted on Jan 17, 2012 17:10:37 GMT 1, It's only nice framing if the print isn't touching the glass. If it is, you need to think about whether you value this print long term. Quick question as I don't know much about framing. Is it possible to frame with no mount and ensure the glass isn't touching the print as I'd like to frame a couple of things like that. Cheers cnh
It is, but you need to ensure spacers are in place. Speak to your local framer for advice.
I've got stuff that is framed with the print touching the glass which was done before I knew what the difference was. But the value of these means it'll be too expensive for me to get them reframed.

grey invader print not as described ebay help, by Deleted on Jan 17, 2012 17:15:12 GMT 1, Here's an example of a print that has no mount; it is float mounted.
But there is the depth to the frame to ensure separation. It's relatively straight forward and shouldn't be more expensive.

grey invader print not as described ebay help, by dazzer1973 on Jan 17, 2012 17:46:00 GMT 1, love the look of the frame but yes may have to re do the frame on my invader print
Close-framing artwork on paper - i.e. when the frame is made to the size of the paper - does not allow expansion and whether you make rebate spacers or not, it can cockle/buckle.
What you are doing by applying pressure directly to all sides of the paper is exactly the same as taping it on all sides to a window mount, which is not good.
The solution for close framing would be either to dry mount - which is not recommended for originals or anything of value or to float mount on to a slightly larger board so that the spacers are on that board; not the artwork. But either method would probably (definitely here) write off the extra expense in size and materials of a window mount.

grey invader print not as described ebay help, by Rsyok on Jan 17, 2012 22:27:44 GMT 1, I dont 100% agree with you there dazzer. OK a print size on size with a frame apeture is not good but a frame lined with a spacers isnt applying any excessive force over the area. The print is not in fixed contact (more assembled) so different to taping all sides. Any framers clarify ?
Definitely remove from contact with the glass as your embossing area ink may stick to the glass in time.
