Worst system for buying prints that I have used so far, to have them in your cart and then not be able to check out is frustrating beyond belief! I had to have alcohol to calm down.

Obey Peace and Justice Ornament , by rottenredrooster on Jan 31, 2012 21:54:51 GMT 1, Every release, on every site ends with the same old comments of amazement and disbelief if anyone is unable to get a print.
There are thousands of people who are trying to get a print, so it shouldn't be a bewildering experience when one doesn't get one.
I personally think the concept of having a cart system which doesn't allow people to hold/keep prints during checkout, far better in a circumstance where all the prints are identical. Had the Shepard Fairey website, allowed people to hold items in carts for X amount of time, people would be moaning about some idiot with it still in their basket hours later. Just like on many previous releases.

Obey Peace and Justice Ornament , by pcant on Jan 31, 2012 21:59:22 GMT 1, RRR, you make a good point, but I think the problem here is that people had them in carts and then the print was gone when you went to checkout. That's what happened to me, anyway, and if you have it in the cart you should get more than 5 seconds to complete the transaction before the site hoovers the print out of your cart.
Your point about masses of people wanting it is correct. I just think once you've managed to get one in your cart, you should be able to complete the transaction.

I agree it is a very frustrating process... the introduction of a system whereby your print is held the moment you click the submit/confirm button.
I'm not sure how complicated it would be to introduce a system like this.
I suppose the best thing is to get the fastest internet package your ISP has, giving you a bit of a head start.
It's a case of damned if they do and damned if they don't.

True that. And I may be in the minority on this, but I like the "drip release" method that some sites use. It eliminates the 30-second time window and makes for a little better chance to grab a print. Of course, that may only work on prints that cost a bit more (BAST, Faile), and might be untenable for Fairey's stuff.
Either way, apologies for the griping, congrats to all who were lucky, and here's hoping all the flippers get bird flu polio.

Obey Peace and Justice Ornament , by pcant on Jan 31, 2012 22:26:56 GMT 1, As many have mentioned, while the anti-flipper policy may warm my heart, it is probably illegal. Or at least that was the response from the forum when I suggested that, because all the versions of Dran's Art Thief were unique, it should be easy to find out who was flipping them. The collective response was "meh, what are you going to do?"
So I'm going with hoping they get a debilitating disease.

As far as I'm aware in the UK it's up to seller as to whether they want to enter in a contract where as the US it is illegal to refuse sale of a visible item...

OK, how about hoping they get stuck with a portfolio of art they bought and can't sell? Not as funny, but maybe less excessive?

I really liked the last one tbh, but not this one as much. And seems like the majority agrees on that one when looking at flipping prices and nr of sells.
I agree on all the frustration about the Obey store.

In Cornwall, We are supposed to have the fastest internet available in the UK (BT FTTP, up to 100MB download and 30MB upload speeds) Didn't do much to help me, I think there is a problem between obeygiant.com and PayPal. If the Obey site is taking too long to process the payment from PayPal then PayPal would automatically cancel the transaction. It could be organized better. The fact that my prints were still in my cart when I went back to Obeystore would suggest its not them(Obey) pulling them. Could be completely wrong of course. BT have never been honest!

Obey Peace and Justice Ornament , by sfinks on Feb 1, 2012 0:28:01 GMT 1, I dont think this has nothing to do with internet speed. I saw the prints were up for at least a minute, maybe even longer. While i was waiting for all the loading. I kept opening new obey sites to see when they got sold out. And this time(compared to last), it didnt sell out in a second. My guess is massive datastream to the Obey site, witch its not equipped to handle. And im pretty sure paypal can take a pretty hard traffic without being effected by it.
