Miss Bugs โข Lost Faith in Pop, by psycho666 on Feb 2, 2012 21:25:01 GMT 1, Thanks!
Yep, they are on some sort of metal. It is quite heavy and thick. It won't bend easily. You'd have to put a bit of effort in doing so.
I thought it was going to be really thin... like can of drink.
ยฃ50 each... I forgot to note down the edition numbers on the backs before framing them! ;D

I am a math expert maybe I can help. 8/70/280...first number is the one you got from that color run, next is that it is of 70 the amount in each color run, third is the total of all the runs, 4 diff colors = 280.
That heavy metal is not so heavy as metal go. aluminum

Miss Bugs โข Lost Faith in Pop, by swamped on Feb 3, 2012 22:08:06 GMT 1, Mine just arrived in Seattle today, look fine from 5 feet away but you get up close on these and the black silkscreening is actually very poor. Lot's of variations in thickness of ink and out lines of the layers are also very visible, these are way below anything I have ever bought from miss buggs in the quality dept. Love the image's but that silkscreening looks like I did it! Oh well can't win them all I guess... Anyone else see the same things in them, or did I just get the bad ones? lol Cheers...

Miss Bugs โข Lost Faith in Pop, by psycho666 on Feb 3, 2012 22:16:36 GMT 1, I might be on my own for saying this, and I'm not really an expert print collector, but I really liked the variations in thickness of the ink and the outlines of the layers. It gives it a nice texture when you look up close, rather than just flat print.
I'm sure there must be some small differences between each print, small imperfections and subtle nuances. Not mistakes or damage, but just making each print a bit unique.
I love textures in paintings... I'm a huge fan of van Gogh because of the thickness of this painting and textures.
But every collector is different!

Not mistakes or damage, but just making each print a bit unique. I agree on that. As long as the mistake or damage comes from the artist, i see it as unique and makes it even more personal and fun to collect

Miss Bugs โข Lost Faith in Pop, by sfinks on Feb 4, 2012 1:29:45 GMT 1, Ive experience the kindness of Miss myself, and can confirm - otto is dead on correct.
But that said. How do an artist deal with a damaged numbered piece? Fix it or make new? And do artists destroy the original printing block after the edition is done?

I thought the same thing. Hard to pick up but below the third green dot, it is all bubbly in areas where it looks like they were not dry!

Miss Bugs โข Lost Faith in Pop, by swamped on Feb 4, 2012 1:56:16 GMT 1, Dont get me wrong I do very much like these, was just suprised at the printing quality really of the black ink alone, other colors look fine. Maybe a silver base coat behind image, then layer's over that would have given these a smoother more consistant look and finish. The difference in my two prints is very, very noticable one is some what ok and the other is ehhhhhh at best. Ink built up around the head and background all blotchy looking.... might have to let these go if I cant quit being a baby about it??

Thanks otto - yeah I sent an email. Haven't taken a photo but plan to send if necessary.
Also, didn't have as much of an issue with it, but upon opening as well as the fact that it was bent the metal seemed to have scratches on it front and back. It seems as though it would be hard to prevent this within the printing process given the medium, so I did't think anything of it. Anyone else have small scratches on theirs?

It seems like the squares of aluminum were not cut that carefully. Re the black ink, it's hard to know whether the variation of thickness was intended or not.

Miss Bugs โข Lost Faith in Pop, by Phear Loathing on Feb 4, 2012 10:11:07 GMT 1, I think you guys, for the most part, are being a bit critical of these. Inks on metal dry far differently than paper or canvas.
I have a lot of MB on metal and there are lots of variations of thickness of ink, not to mention lines in different spots.
I don't have a single one that is flawless. I really don't think flawless is in the cards for art on this medium..
I really wouldn't sweat it and just consider it unique . Now bent corners are a different story. That is a shipping issue. They would never send it bent.
MB is pretty fanatical about their quality control. They take it with a great deal of seriousness.
Enjoy!!!

from my experience they seem to always print a few extra copies to deal with that kind of issues. Must be more and more common with internet being the biggest art gallery now... Last time it happened to me my print was replaced with the same number. I guess that's why you need to send the damaged print back before they proceed, to avoid weird duplicates to circulate...
