Are they editions - if so, are they numbered or edition size confirmed?
What history does this come with - how do you spot a fake?

Yup, Im guessing a large portion of Ebay companions are fakes. Within the last year there has been a huge influx of them and i could personally never trust what is avalible on the bay. Volvic on the other hand is a class act and authenticity is not an issue.

How can you tell yours is fake Gard?

Would love the link Gard - not sure about having the cash for this one, but would love the knowledge before parting with it, if I had!

How much do you value it at? I haven't checked the prices for one but in my head I thought 17-18 grand was a fair price, or am I way off?

Edit: did some investigating and now I think somewhere between 10 and 12k is a fair price. 

Hey Gard, honestly I value it like I would any type of other art... the going rate.  The problem is the prices we always see thrown around are rarely ever the "going rate".  I know of 5 different parties asking 15-20K for their 4ft...none of them have sold in the last 2 years. Of course that price was established by galleries/auctions where the galleries are most likely selling on consignment....typical mark up...Sell for double what owner needs back.  Owner wants to sell for 8-10K-gallery asks for 18-20K.  Like I said none have sold for that price from what I've seen privately or gallery sales.

The only ones I've seen sold have been one on this forum that IIRC sold for ~7900 and then changed hands again because wifey didn't like it for around ~8500-8900 (same black dissect) and one that was still in box that sold in San Diego for 10K - That was in an open box but never displayed.  A second party told me their friend picked one up for 9K last summer...but I don't know him.   There was someone who wanted $6750 + shipping on EB but he was in NYC and I had no way or verifying seller or item and shipping was over $500.. That was a year and a half ago. 

I don't think I'm off by saying the value is 8-10K this for an opened and perviously displaced 4ft, missing or included original box.  Sure I guess it would be reasonable to ask for 12K for an unopened box stored away perfect blah blah...but that wouldn't matter for me nor would I pay extra for it... I plan on displaying it if I ever get my hands on one.
