What do you REGRET Selling, Buying or Not Buying, by neville on Apr 14, 2008 22:28:19 GMT 1, In the fifties my mum was at college in Liverpool. An artist went round the colleges trying to sell his paintings to the students. She liked them -ยฃ30 was the asking price and she had it - but she wanted a fur coat. Although the coat lasted for years, I think an original Lowry would have been a better buy! Bearing this in mind I buy what I like and worry about the credit card bill later, although I did drop out of bidding just a bit too early on a TMA Bristol just before Bonhams. My own regret is not being able to part with the pictures that are worth more than I paid for them, since these are the ones I like most. My husband despairs since he still thinks my buying art is some sort of money -raising scheme and one day I will show a profit. I won't but we'll have some great art on the walls!

What do you REGRET Selling, Buying or Not Buying, by retardthebear on Dec 16, 2008 1:25:28 GMT 1, looking at i fought the law/jesus with shopping bags/napalm (list goes on) on POW a few years back and deciding it cost to much. But still didnt stop going on the site and perving on them over and over, to one day see them sold out and out of my price range. dont really like spending more on a print than its face value. Especially as face value is a right kick in the balls nowa-days!

What do you REGRET Selling, Buying or Not Buying, by spanksy on Dec 16, 2009 0:21:51 GMT 1, As the recession wore on and times grew harder, art was sold to keep jobs, wifes and houses I myself watch my collection dwindle to just a few pieces compared to the pre-crunch glory days.
now times are a little bit brighter (i hope) we can reflect that bit of art that was hardest to let go of??
Mine had to be my NW TMA Empire. not a day goes by i dont miss it
yours?

What do you REGRET Selling, Buying or Not Buying, by neale on Dec 16, 2009 11:34:00 GMT 1, Luckily, have not had to sell any art, but really feel for those that have. Definately affected my buying though, have been much more selective this year, and traded stuff that was just sitting in the folio. Lets hope we are through the worst, and that 2010 will be a good year for us all...Chin up forum!!

What do you REGRET Selling, Buying or Not Buying, by hlarmy on Sept 8, 2010 18:04:34 GMT 1, Another random thread for a bit of fun...
Which piece of art do you regret selling the most; I'm sure there's plenty of forum members who have had some crackers in their time, but decided to sell it for one reason or another.
My biggest regret is selling my S&S last year and at a price that I would happily pay for another now...

What do you REGRET Selling, Buying or Not Buying, by mmmike on Sept 8, 2010 18:09:27 GMT 1, I have never sold anything so nothing to regret there but I have passed on a couple that I regret. The ones that hurt the most were a Nola (below market) and Donuts at cost. My good friend ended up buying both so it wasn't so bad.

I guess that's another thread in itself. You turned down a Banksy print at cost
EDIT: sorry, don't mean to rub salt in the wounds...

It wasn't my favorite print, if I bought it it would have been to flip so probable best, my buddy is happy about getting it. It actually got him into buying way too many prints now. A cheap Banksy is a powerful gateway drug.

I think there is one on the 'bay at the moment.
Lat time I looked it was at around ยฃ165, but the reserve hadn't been met.
We love ours. It hangs in the lounge.
