Based on the number of prints he has released ? Phlegm is one of the most prolific street artists around today. He doesn't seem to be driven by any sort Of commercial gain and when you talk to him it is quite apparent that he loves painting - everything else he does is purely to fund that passion (and pay the rent), along with a few good causes along the way.
I wish he would release more, sell more of his drawings and be more accessible but you have to respect what he does - excellent artist IMO but not one you will necessarily get rich from

Phlegm... Most dissapointet artist in 2013 for me. Really had high hopes for him. How can you say that? He's done more than most in the street, he's completed murals for Canal Mills and Millennium Gallery, he's self-produced a limited edition print all while self-producing a book for the masses. |

Did not really understand why he would release the book print "just to get some cash for his project".

He's not remotely interested in making pots of cash, trying to buy an original from him is next to impossible unless you have a long standing relationship with him. His sole motivation seems to be about painting walls all over the world - his blog documents this so again how can he disappoint anyone?

Maybe i was too harsh when i called it the biggest dissapointment. I take that back.
I was just expecting other directions or priority from him. But as you say, he does his thing and no one does his scene better(closest must be Roa). For such a huge talent i would love to see bigger plans or ideas then a blog.

Pricing on prints as well as lack of interest in commissions shows he really is in it for the love of it. He's more interested in everyone seeing his ideas in public, than us having them up on our walls in our private homes.

There will be more than one edition of the book apparently. Phlegm himself told me so I assume that's right
So might put some of the flippers off buying them up as soon as the book is released and charging well over the odds to anyone that misses the 1st edition on launch day ( half of us at a guess ! )
We'll be able to get a copy at the proper price when the next edition is released
Unless of course someone's desperate enough to pay the flippers 'premium' for the 1st edition which I assume will be significant based on how long we've all been waiting for Phlegm to finish the book.......

I'm not sure there'll be thousands of them ?
They're screenprinted covers and a bit fancy I assume, so no wonder he's taken so bloody long to get them ready, so I reckon even 100's might be optimistic for the 1st edition
Anyway, he's just posted fotos on his blog of some bones he's splashed on a wall in Sheffield......lovely....... & sounds like the book's one step closer to launch

From the man himself, in March "I think i want to do a nice big edition. I think 5000. I want these to retain a normal price for fans rather than shooting straight out my shop and onto ebay."
