Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by smellmyfinger on Nov 19, 2010 19:43:49 GMT 1, Wow! that certainly is a full on image. Way to go. Another, not really a constructive comment, but just realised that the 3 or 4 times that I have looked at this image I am always drawn to the fact that they have both left their socks on and my settee looks very similar. Maybe it's cold in their flat.

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by Vagabond on Nov 20, 2010 2:31:51 GMT 1, The fact that this is a print says quite a lot about where were at. It's funny, but why would any one want this on their walls? It's a fly poster campaign, it's stickers, it's postcards, a CD cover, etc; but it's not something worth buying. This is student politics at its most crass.
Art isn't the expression of the artist but the spectator, or in this case, the owner of the print. Perhaps one would want to express one's admiration for both explicit sodomy and Cameron and Clegg?
We don't expect to shaft a quadrillion copies to all manner of individuals, we just thought there might be a few people who would appreciate waking up to the image all suggestively spread across their wall in light of recent events.
It was originally intended, and indeed still may, to be a large stencil.
If any serious agent wants the original uneffected Cameron-fucking-Clegg for any Cameron bashing endeavour drop me a message.

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by stringer64 on Nov 20, 2010 20:19:05 GMT 1, Hi Cartrain, i would be interested in the canvas. I have your first print (1/8) and love it. i have it hanging with my SPQR Paintbomber, Shepard Fairey's and red More Love print by Jamie Reid and it looks great in their company. I have just bought a rene Gagnon original canvas and an Eelus original canvas of Mr T. I think yours would go well alongside.

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by stringer64 on Nov 20, 2010 21:49:17 GMT 1, Although the image as it stands is very "in your face" and not for my wall, I think that it is a fair idea and if done as a stencil over a multimedia background, this could be quite a piece. I agree with the heads swapping places if only because of the angle that each "politician" is facing: Cameron's face does look as though he is being shafted. Swap the queen head for Alex Salmond and you add an extra dimension to the narrative, and you might get it up on a few student walls north of the border!
I know Cartrain has his detractors, but I think he is going to get better and, as I own his first limited edition print ( number 1 of 8), I know that I like some of his work very much. Keep working Cartrain, and if you have anything you want to offload, give me a bell!
Oh, and here's the framed print...

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by stringer64 on Nov 27, 2010 12:53:53 GMT 1, I heard a rumour on the grapevine that the Mahatma Nikee print of Ghandi in Nike trainers by Aria Torn is actually an early piece by Cartrain. Certainly Aria Torn is almost an anagram of Cartrain and Mahatma Nikee came out in 2007 around the time of Cartrain's first stuff, but other than that...
Anyone know anything about this rumour?

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by ricobenfico on Nov 30, 2010 18:10:09 GMT 1, Banksyβs friend smokes spliff in public gallery as Nick Clegg addresses the Commons by Felix Allen, 11.11.10
A street-artist friend of Banksy was able to smoke a cannabis joint in the House of Commons during Prime Minister's Questions.
βCartrainβ, 18, smuggled the drugs past security officers and lit up in the public gallery as Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg β standing in for David Cameron β was taking questions from MPs yesterday lunchtime.
Cartrain and a friend were finally hauled out by police after he stood up and shouted βdecriminalise cannabisβ, although the glass security screen meant few in the chamber below could hear his protest and the session was not interrupted. The Leytonstone teenager, who once removed part of Damien Hirst's Tate Britain installation Pharmacy in a separate protest, was later released with a warning.
He said: βThe security was tighter than at an airport β there were about 20 cops searching people, metal detectors, the works β but I couldn't believe how easy it was.
βI lit up right in front of Nick Clegg. I must have taken a good four or five pulls on the spliff before the guards realised what I was doing, and then I went quietly. They said they would put me in a cell under Big Ben, which I said sounds amazing, like the most expensive hotel in London, but then they decided to let me go when they realised I was quite keen to be arrested.β
His police stop and account form, signed by an officer of the Met's SO17 Palace of Westminster division, records: βStopped in strangers gallery after seen smoking cannabis.β
A spokesman for the House of Commons said: βTwo people were removed from the public gallery of the Commons today for inappropriate behaviour. They were handed over to the police, cautioned and given advice about drugs.β
Cartrain's previous stunts include sneaking a fake exhibit into the British Museum.
Last year artists including Banksy rallied to support him after he was arrested for taking a packet of pencils β valued at Β£500,000 β from Hirst's exhibition after the former Young British Artist's representatives threatened to sue Cartrain for making collages including photos of Hirst's work.
