Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by decorum on Jan 28, 2012 1:01:57 GMT 1, RomanyWG is the man for photographing urban decay - stunning skills albeit sometimes over cooked the use of HDR (i still worship you though, Romany!).
Can we change the topic to photography in derelict places?

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by loucastel on Jan 28, 2012 12:29:18 GMT 1, looks like the warehouse Joy Division shot the video of Love will tear us apart again. It not the same place but looks good. www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/programmes/schedules/fmToday @ 13:45 Adil Ray presented a great programme about an urban explorer who went in to derelict buildings etc photographing the decay etc. Well worth a listen Check out www.28dayslater.co.uk
Wish you hadn't posted that site, just spent 2 hours looking through it, excellent photography. thanks .

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by Coach on Jan 28, 2012 22:30:57 GMT 1, As for the comments on this thread, I wish we could put to bed the snidy comments now. Why?
Ok, I'll give this one a go. Whether you like his work or not, Cartrain is an artist, and I think that any criticism of his work should be constructive. The insults have been going on now for so long, I feel it might be a little tired. Fwiw, I am not a fan of Cartrains work, although I do like some of his photographs. I just don't particularly like seeing someone continously slated on a public forum. That's all - you did ask! c

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by speebe on Jan 28, 2012 23:57:19 GMT 1, IMO if you promote yourself on a public forum you're looking to get a response... & you'll get it.
Good and bad, it'll be brutally honest too.
When you're fishing you won't always like the catch.
When I had my first couple of exhibitions and being unknown to those viewing my work you get to hear peoples reactions and I think you just have to accept that as an artist/designer.... It comes with the territory.
The BIG difference on here is that things can get a tad personal...

And I have a feeling that being hidden behind a computer make some people feeling free to insult. One good rule imo: don't write on a forum what you would not say in front of the people.
I like Cartrain's photographs too. We might have a nice surprise in some years

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by hotdog on Jan 30, 2012 1:12:31 GMT 1, Is everyone going mad or something. This is not street art I wouldn't even call this art. Paste ups are for people with no skill anyone can take a photo and stick it on a wall or get someone to do it your them. This forum had gone down hill big time. People bigging up shit art just makes me laugh you need to get out in the real world and not be on your computer 24 7 worrying about who's gonna bring out a shit print next! As for cartrain fair play for having a go but art just isn't your thing you have it or you don't and I think your no we're near it. Your only on here coz you nicked some pens and ya do bare reach rounds. I see the RESPECT is back lol looks like I will be - after this post.

They get a box shipped over and paste it up. Not my thing. Might be yours. And for JR that not my thing too I don't get his art and I wound never have any of it on my wall.

And that's your opinion, I've little time for Cartrain but that's as much to do with his and his cohorts antics on here as to do with his art.
JR on the streets is interesting, impressive and socially illuminating, on the wall at home not so much.

Ever tried to put a big paste up on a wall at 2 in the morning in the center of the city? its not easy, takes skill and balls. To the defense of Cartrain, its a good hit and well done to him.

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by caddyshack on Feb 3, 2012 11:03:14 GMT 1, For sale, a Cartrain original on cardboard. Bomb Bush on the front and signed in the bottom right corner. On the back is a Mickey Mouse.
Now, I know there's not a lot of love on the forum for Cartrain and this post is going to get me loads of negative respect points, but there must be someone out there who likes his stuff.
Forgot to measure the piece when I was taking the photos but I think its about 24" x 18"
Price wise, nothing stupid, looking to clear Β£200 that's all.
