Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by Deleted on Oct 21, 2009 15:26:46 GMT 1, Is it not normal for people to own and talk about Art that they like? Of course. What is slightly strange is you constantly referring to an artist who is most famous for stealing a box of pencils as, being on "another level" and "making it big in the future". If that's your honest opinion then fine. You must be able to see why people may smell the nasty whiff of unwarranted hype though? In my opinion, unless Mr Train gets a serious injection of talent from somewhere, I think at best he'll be looked on as the Jordan of the "urban" art world. how apt two big tits ;D

Thats my opinion Simple as that. So when people talk about an Artist that you don't like, you put that down to "Hype"? but when you talk (Hype) about an Artist you like and own work by its your honest and unbiased opinion

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by nacional on Oct 21, 2009 16:09:34 GMT 1, And mammal's credentials as (a) an artist (b) a art critic?? Beyond, of course, the ability to rip someone up in an, admittedly, quite funny way. Is he from the "I don't know much, but I know what I like" school, personal rant Seething Wells (RIP) stylee or is there some basis to his jive. Give an appraisal that is more than mud-slinging and maybe, just maybe, people will sit-up and pay more attention.

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by baznyc on Oct 21, 2009 16:24:09 GMT 1, As Cartrain has said him self in the past, It seems a number of Artists have a bit of a chip on their shoulder about him He has the guts to do stuff that they don't dare do! and as I was trying to say on another thread, Its this sort of thing that takes an Artist to another level. Cartrain is a natural at using the Media to his advantage, as was Banksy! Thats what really sets him up for making it big in the future as his Art develops.
Asserting that Cartrain has more guts than some artists is quite a claim. You mean artists such as whom, Rolf Harris?
Most of the artists associated with the street that I know tend to have a lot of balls when it comes to the risks that they take.
Unless you mean having the balls to rip off Banksy, in which case I'd suggest that this isn't down to guts but purely due to a total lack of a single original idea in his talentless head.

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by Cedric Mnich on Oct 21, 2009 16:45:24 GMT 1, Well, I guess the guts are more about stealing the pencils from hirst and Tate. Some one said that Cartrain was selling his art at v-speed. Not that obvious. The ransom print (which I bought) still has 10 available, though it was a 40 prints limited series. And most prints are still on 100artworks. About the "New Banksy" title : well, I guess it's more some journalist trick to have people read the article. As soon as press speaks about Street Art they have to mention Banksy. look at Pistol articles. Banksy is mentioned everywhere. Banksy is the only reference they have for people.

The 10 left appear to be A/Ps. Seems rather a lot of A/Ps if there were only 40 prints to the edition!

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by Cedric Mnich on Oct 21, 2009 16:57:39 GMT 1, Well I think mine is numbered 7/40 so yeah it was a 40 series. Oh yeah, you're right I did not notice the A/P mention of 10. Yeah, a bit much for an AP. Weird but I guess it's to face success then (and cash on it).

Rumour has it that this is Cartrain's non artist forum identity. Is this true?
