Craig Everett π¬π§ Rourke Van Dal β’ Urban Artist, by Rourke on Jan 16, 2011 20:33:50 GMT 1, Hello
Here is some of the work I have been working on over the last few weeks. These are all work in Progress, thought it would be interesting for you to see them in development.
Cheers
'Local Lad' (above) Is the start of the Hockney peice, I stripped the front off a chunky pallette, I have started rubbing the pallette down to expose a bit more of the Grain. It is now by the kettle, where I make my many cups of tea. I then throw used teabags at it, and ocasionally squeeze them over the grain and in all the nooks and crannys.
It is ruffly 4ft deep, but I am going to build the head out to the sides, so it will end up almost Square.

cheers mate, I have never been as content with my work as I am now. Got loads of stuff i want to do, exploring different dimensions, experimnting and seeing how far I can go, Plus love getting stuck in more with my hands, moulding and sculpting. Wood and Metal loved it when I was a kid. I am using loads more diffeferent tools now rather than just a brush. Everyday I can be doing something totally different.
Thanks for your post

Just I thought I would update you and share the progress of David Hockney Portrait I started a couple of weeks ago. Its going well so far, but its been my hardest venture to date, so hope it carrys on in the same vein. trying a few slightly different techniques on this one. Really going to push the Sculpting with this one. here where I am at.
to be continuedβ¦
I started with a 4ft in depth Chunky pallete. threw sanded and plained a a few area down, to bring out the grain, then threw tea bags at it.
Then I chiseled and split a few bits of wood to wedge into some of the empty slatts.
I have now started to work on the 3d bit by building out the areas with newpaper and wood, starting from his forehead. Its totally mind bending working out how far to come out and which areas to come out more. I have also cut out the glasses, which will be fixed in front of the eyes, when I have finished them, on the bit of wood you can just make out on the photos.
Will keep you updated Cheers and have a good weekend

The Tea⦠I do it mainly for adding extra stains, some get covered up but some stay, underlying in the depth of the peice. The tea dribbles into all the nooks and crannys and when dry adds an interesting antiqed effect. I also drip them over at various intervals on creating the work although they have become a bit of an habbit now.
Cheers balibob

Thought I would update you on the Hockney Portrait. Don't if I mentioned this before⦠Its going to be called 'Local Lad' cos he's a local lad to me, being from Bradford and that. Infact he grew up about 10minutes away from my studio and where I live. He has always been a major influence in my art, from being young. The portrait is made up from the Telegraph & Argus, our Local paper, hence the title of the piece. Still got quite along way to go. Hope you like Cheers
