Craig Everett π¬π§ Rourke Van Dal β’ Urban Artist, by Rourke on Sept 26, 2011 10:48:45 GMT 1, I might be out of line here, But am going to be honestβ¦ Just been reading the 'slag mbw' thread, had a chuckle to my self. HYPE, Hype, sell, sell, corporate clever
I've got these paints here, NOT done in photoshop, Done with my Brain, Hands, a Brush and Good old PAINT. Less than Half price of my other OG's. Trying to give punters the chance to have and original on the wall, rather than print. AT probably less than what you'll pay for and Brainwash print. How much do you pay for a print? am not slagin him at all, its just my reason for doing the 'curates egg' thingy in the first place. This is not directed at anybody in specific, but there is alot of crap out there, that sells for stupid amounts of brass. Because of the hype, or they have a wallet behind them. I know thats just the time we live in, and everything is all about the name/brand, and MONEY. I may be old fashioned but, I really don't like that AND THINK ITS Really SAD. When they are alot of unbelivable tallented people that go unmissed. I am probably shoot in myself in the foot AGAIN with what I am doing, cos I am not doing something the norm. But I really cudnt give a toss, it gives me a chance to really get stuck into some good old honest painting and experimenting.
Sorry for the rant, and I am in no way Having a dig at anybody. Just want to paint, and progress.
PS: Slag me if you want, it will get me loads of posts, keep my thread at the top, get me loads of hits to the website. ONLY jokin
Cheers for letting me

Think i'd prefer them with more definition, or no body with the bright backgrounds. Love the faces though, don't know if it's a good or bad thing, but they have a touch of Micallef to them. (No. 1 still my fav! :-))

Ta alot mate, your thoughts are very much appreciated. and I get what your saying. I have done a similar style to this before, but it used to be my underpainting. Anyways I wanted to really loosen up, and develop a Wild painting style. going in one direction, then another, and then another. something which is a bit out of control, totally the opposite of what I am used to. To do this and to do heads, there is always going to be similarities to Micallef. I think thats a good thing though. I have been into to Frank Aurebach, and Harry Simmonds for ages, who also have similar style.

Yeah know what you're saying, loose isn't a bad thing. Must be a refreshing change for you too as you usually have such a tight style. Number one is just as loose looking at it again, but seems to blend in more with the black background... plus those scratches and marks, on the face in particular, really add a lot for me.
Checked out thse two artists btw, similar kind of loose theme, i get where the inspiration comes from. Loving Frank Aurebach in particular, some of those almost exploded line style portraits are very impressive.
