HMP Prints Arrival, by Daniel Silk on May 8, 2007 10:14:41 GMT 1, My "Officer Down" and "Im Your Father" came this mornin in the post from Norway ;D
Really nice bit of printing ;D They look just like they were stenciled  cant have been easy to get that looking just right  Well Done the lads at HMP  ;D
Oh! when your prints arrive ;D take care removing them from the tudes the caps are stapled so make sure you fully remove the staples before try to take the print out ;D

Yeah I think £70 is fair enough, not as good value as Souled Out Studios, but who is? and much cheaper than the £200 for Nick Walkers Moona Lisa.

Both are fantastic prints and the 'i am your father' makes my eelus prints look like poor relatives!

Printing process
1 The artist paints his work on a large paper canvas.
2 The paper is scanned to image file in a large format scanner.
3 The image is divided into colours, and each color is printed in black ink on a transparent.
4 The silkscreen is covered with emulsion and dried. (A silkscreen is a fine mesh that allows paint to flow through it. The emulsion blocks the paint from getting through.)
5 The transparent is fixed to the silkscreen and the screen is exposed using a powerful lamp. This hardens the emulsion that receives the light, leaving the emulsion behind the printed areas on the transparent unhardened.
6 The unhardened emulsion is washed off with water.
7 The silkscreen is fastened on top of a printing table, and the printing paper is placed underneath.
8 Paint is applied and pressed through the silkscreen onto the printing paper using a squeegee.
9 The print is left to dry in a rack.
10 Steps 4 to 9 are repeated for each colour
