I always think that if the sig does not add anything artistically to a work they should go on the back

Damien Hirst Spot Prints, by bernard on Dec 25, 2011 14:17:21 GMT 1, Me as well, spots look fine as is, ...............though maybe for the punters who bought it 'just' because its a Hirst and not for the work itself can put some kind of brass plaque next to it with a brief description and whom its by?, this will also help guests and visitors and save the home owner from having to drop into the conversation somewhere that he / she owns a Damien Hirst.

Damien Hirst Spot Prints, by mace on Dec 26, 2011 0:35:28 GMT 1, I think Manifold are directly linked to Paragon. Yes, they are in effect one and the same. There were some problems with the site the other day which may be why it has been taken down. There is nothing to worry about though, it will be back up again. I have ordered my first spot print, looking forward to picking it up in the new year and getting it on the wall in my new house
Which one did you get ?

Agreed, box white frame all the way, although personally I wouldn't float like OC do. I've no doubt someone will try send theirs to MrFrameman for a bright blue painted ornate frame - I'd pay to see that!

Damien Hirst Spot Prints, by jdwheeler on Jan 3, 2012 11:44:50 GMT 1, Hi Jd, i did have the 20th Lana print at ยฃ3000 on reserve (not sure if it was actually numbered 20 though), went up to see it this morning and after half an hour of staring at spots! I declined on the purchase, just didn't do it for me, something about the colours maybe, i liked more the Benzy and N-Methyl for the vibrancy and just seemed to be easier on the eye. Anyhow it means there is still the last Lana available at ยฃ3000 for anyone tempted. That was the one I got, Cathy said it had been on reserve but the buyer had a change of mind so they are at the new price of ยฃ3.6k now.
Hehehe
My invoice says 20/100 so that is three of us with the same print!!!
Damn Hirst and his money grabbing ways!!
;-)

I would be interested in the book "The Complete Spot Paintings 1986-2011".
However, I doubt it would include prints/woodcuts - I assume just canvas originals.

Damien Hirst Spot Prints, by jamesbc1 on Jan 4, 2012 20:25:56 GMT 1, Always enjoy talking spots, so hope you don't mind if I join this thread.....
I just released a couple of weeks ago on www.manifoldeditions.com nine wood-cut spots which are published by Paragon Press / Other Criteria. Other Criteria had some of these woodcut editions for sale, but they sold out immediately - I still have some left from the initial print, but prices have begun to increase, as editions sell.
They are all signed on the front by Hirst and numbered on the reverse, printed on 410gsm Somerset White Paper - editions of only 55.
I will be releasing more Hirst wood-cut spots later this month, so if you wish to get advance notice, then sign up to the newsletter on the Manifold Editions home page.
Manifold Editions is a publisher and distributor of contemporary limited edition prints. I formed the company 6 months ago, and will be releasing and publishing new works by Damien Hirst, Marc Quinn, Elizabeth Magill and Gavin Turk. I have on my site 130 works by 21 artists, so lots to choose from, many published by The Paragon Press.
It is going to be a crazy Hirst year - much of it focusing on spots. Gagosian Gasllery from the 12th January - 11 exhibitions world-wide dedicated to spot paintings, and his major retrospective opens at Tate Modern in April 2012.
Anyone got any questions then do e-mail me at; james@manifoldeditions.com
.....on the subject of floating/mounting I have to agree floating is the way forward for any of the Hirst prints.
James

Damien Hirst Spot Prints, by mmmike on Jan 4, 2012 22:34:36 GMT 1, Some are honest and upfront others are Laz
They are charging international buyers a 20% premium. I know when I import things I have to pay Canadian tax. With Laz they keep the full amount of the quoted VAT included price. They do not charge VAT to international buyers they just charge them a premium of the same amount that they keep. I then have to pay Canadian tax on top of the full amount not to mention the higher shipping rates.
That is why I don't plan to buy from them in the future.
If they were upfront about it and said there are two prices, one for local buyers and one for international buyers at least that would be honest.

Damien Hirst Spot Prints, by jamesbc1 on Jan 4, 2012 23:22:50 GMT 1, It is a shame there is a lack of transparency out there. UK VAT at 20% has to be charged on all UK and EU (European Union) shipments for limited edition prints - outside of these territories they should be VAT exempt, therefore 20% less - the only increase in this price could be shipping costs, currency exchange rates, and local import taxes. No reason for two prices - local and international.

Damien Hirst Spot Prints, by primetime on Jan 5, 2012 2:27:41 GMT 1, I too like to see the gallery/printshop owners mixing it up with the buyers. I think its a good idea on both ends as it was other forum members who got the word to me about the new releases and Manifold Editions that resulted in a sale of a Benzyloxyurea (otherwise not on my rader as I am in the states). In addition, the seller/printer is able to clear a few things up about the prints they are selling. I cannot imagine that a guy like Mr Framemans involvement with the forum has not been mutually beneficial and I would think the same would be true for James from Manifold Editions or any other source gallery.

Received mine today, couriered by James. Gent to deal with and great service. Phoned Gary immediately and he's going to try and pick up on tuesday in London. White box floated. If any others can get theirs done at the same time it'd be a bonus if there's a deal going.
