What are you doing here? Are you seriously comparing price of a small and simple work on paper with a large canvas? I know you like small works but still...
I don't get the overpriced idea here, Fridriks is not priced higher than most of the urban artists we are discussing on this forum and her CV is more impressive. Eine, Dolk, Charming Baker (easy ten times KF prices), Nick Walker, D*Face, Adam Neate, Paul Insect, José Parla, etc. All of the above are priced higher and their CV is not better.
Anyway, each to their own.
I assume you're thinking of buying a KF soon and so trying to keep prices low

Katrin Fridriks 🇮🇸 Reykjavík, Iceland • Abstract Art , by Deleted on Jan 12, 2012 9:20:44 GMT 1, seriously you're going to justify a price of an artist's work by comparing it to a marketplace almost totally conceived of overpriced artists?

I'm not justifying her price by comparing. I said above on this thread why imo she's not overpriced.
Pez starts comparing with other artists, I do the same... that's all.
Forgot to mention Hush, also priced higher ;D
Edit: And actually I think it's weird there is an overpriced discussion about KF when imo a lot of other artists are totaly overpriced and people keep buying. Anyway each to their own.

Katrin Fridriks 🇮🇸 Reykjavík, Iceland • Abstract Art , by Poppy Sunshine on Jan 12, 2012 10:32:30 GMT 1, Slightly off topic but there's been quite a bit of talk about the price an artist should be able command in relation to their experience and respect from bigger galleries etc.
Just wondered if anyone has anything to say in this regard about Boxi.
I really liked his stuff at Laz last year but some prices were huge and I've hardly been able to find anything about him on the internet in comparison to other artists. He was also showing stuff 5 years old so I wonder if much actually gets sold. Love the work all the same but can't fathom how they come up with prices.
With regard to KF, she is high on my list for this year. I wish everyone I like was half the price and sold their art direct rather than inflating the price with the gallery fees but considering some of the prices of originals from some of the relatively unknown stencil artists in our little circle over the last few years I think she's not badly priced.

Katrin Fridriks 🇮🇸 Reykjavík, Iceland • Abstract Art , by Deleted on Jan 12, 2012 11:58:58 GMT 1, Maybe I should just stick with Jago... In the end I realize I could almost have an entire wall covered in Jago for the price of a smallish KF. I think this thread has made me at least realize one thing..... I am going to wait another 6 months and see if I still feel the same about Fridrks work. I have been admiring for 6 months or so, but more time won't kill me. Again, thanks for everyone's participation. It's been valuable.
I have to say that as much as I admire Frdidriks work, Jago has more staying power and much more consistency for me.

All the art I have, I have seen and it's grabbed me, and I just have to have it.

Katrin Fridriks 🇮🇸 Reykjavík, Iceland • Abstract Art , by sharpster on Jan 12, 2012 15:19:30 GMT 1, Nice thread... maybe it's just about time to convince galleries and the artist herself to release a print ... lower pricing than an original, more people will get to know (and own) her work - win win situation, isnt it? Really would love a Fridriks on my wall, wanted one of the sleeves she designed for Wall & Frames but missed out...

If you live in the states that could be a good deal www.lebasseprojects.com/?page_id=3982
Had only seen Vicky David in the US carrying her work. Thanks. This place is only a couple miles from me.

I agree with this to an extent, but with the price tag of her work I have refused to just buy on impulse. It was actually a bit of a new years resolution to think about my purchases a bit more and only get things that I really want.....
UPC- I can see where your coming from with Jago. I say it often on here, but my large canvas from him is absolutely one of my favorite things I own. I really look and admirer the thing every day.

Not really overpriced since you can get a decent sized original canvas wherein you know the execution is excellent. YOu can grow liking the piece overtime. When i saw it i just knew i have to have one. But again, its a matter of preference. If you feel the piece is strong, then get it. Im not disappointed with my piece. Reposting a link:

That piece isn't that small and it was more a post for ABC because I know he loves Terry Frost.
And I entirely agree that all of the artists you mention are pretty much overpriced too.
I wouldn't really put fridriks in the urban art movement anyway. I don't she would put herself in that bracket either. I was trying to compare Fridriks with other abstract artists. Albert Irvin perhaps a better comparator - an artist with a 50/60 year career behind him whose similar sized canvases are a similar price.
And I've been in this game long enough to know that whatever I, or indeed anyone says on an internet forum, wouldn't effect pricing.
As you say each to their own. I like her work very much so we are not really disagreeing

Katrin Fridriks 🇮🇸 Reykjavík, Iceland • Abstract Art , by johnnyh on Jan 13, 2012 9:36:59 GMT 1, To be fair though Deputy she does have a pretty long and developing CV of work with international recognition.
I always think the over priced thing is a bit weird as I think accurate pricing for art is a bit weird as it is so subjective.
I also do not think that she will disappear as some urban street flavors can much easier as often their work is of a moment. Where as fridriks is more of a traditional contemporary artist in her style and lives in the gallery market where she will stay. That's not to say her priced cannot drop but it is more unlikely.
Anyway those who like it and I do and would like one so on the list..... As regardless of cost it is definitely worth a 40 x 40 wall space where once purchased it will stay.
They can see what it's worth when I snuff it

just to say my comment was just related to Pezlows and although on the Katrin's thread was not directed to her work in anyway, most of all because in no way is she urban art. Sorry should have made that clearer. It was more just a statement about artists who've made a name in direct relation to this forum.

Compared to her pricing direct from various galleries that I have received, that would have been a steal for the size of that thing.
Maybe I'll just wait for an auction flop ; )

I reckon so my opinion that as mentioned earlier 7k for an original canvas of a recognized seriously developing artist in comparison to a Signed Banksy print at relatively similar prices is a reasonable deal.
Not say which is better or worse just that it is comparable.
Depending on which you like etc. Not disapointed with a signed Banksy and if you like it an orig canvas of fridriks will not look to messy on your wall either.
Have not got a fridriks but do think they are quite stunning pieces as are many others

Buying in then yes, flogging then no. Its always a shock to the seller when the hammer price fails to match the pre buying hype.
