Stik Walk Print, by dutchfella on Apr 20, 2012 13:53:54 GMT 1, I honestly canโt see the point of getting annoyed by this print release. I like Stik but find his print editions unadventurous and overhyped. I remember when he was selling his first edition for ยฃ50 and Squarity having to ask first if people would buy them. It sold out but not for a long time. I personally didnโt buy one as I didnโt think it transposed well enough into something Iโd put on my wall.
Better to pick up your best SLR, go down, snap your favorite piece and then pop it on your wall. A fraction of the price for a better image with your own style added to it.
I reckon half the people on here complaining about not getting a print would barely be able to say where any of his work is in Shoreditch but are more concerned about its resale value, maybe something to trade in the next few yearsโฆโฆโฆ..

I disagree on that. I went to London last week to walk around full day in Red Church, Shoreditch, Brick Lane area to check all the murals. Stik was on top of my list. And sorry about it, but I am not a Londoner but just living in Amsterdam.

Taken from the queue. The piece stands at something like 1.65m, it's on a chunky oak plinth. I liked very much.
Sorry for the delay in replying, I've been busy trying to get over the latest banning outrage. I'm not quite there yet

Stik Walk Print, by boatyyy on Apr 20, 2012 17:59:27 GMT 1, ... Show looks a bit bland no? Please stop comparing him to Keith Haring. not being contrary at all, but curious, why not compare him to Keith Haring?... if stik aspired to that level of art world success (dunno) with use of vivid colors and simplicity, as well as a social message? Haring started from the beginning too, no? just asking?

Stik Walk Print, by boatyyy on Apr 20, 2012 18:57:49 GMT 1, dear God, has the world gone crazy...21 pages for this drivel.... well, think about it Haring's 'drivel' was pushed during a time of heightened AIDS epidemic awareness etc and he pushed through and had an awareness impact... at our current time of record homelessness, economic hardship and complexity, here again comes another simplicity driven art thinker with use of similar(?) techniques (maybe not deliberate) - but such is the universe and mark of our times... dunno,
anyways, that's one of my useless perspectives, as always... just chatting it up is all...

Stik Walk Print, by futureworldleaders on Apr 20, 2012 19:02:10 GMT 1, my first post on here for years but thought this might be of use if people are still looking for some of his work, I painted this piece down at Graffik Gallery about 2 weeks ago next to a 3d Stik piece that looks similar to SonnyOne's photo, not sure if it's still available or anything but might be worth contacting them!

Stik Walk Print, by chaturz on Apr 20, 2012 19:25:14 GMT 1, Ps I remember the invader warning queue and there was loads of inaccurate forum hype then. They didn't even sell out from the queue. I don't get why people try this hype when some are asking for honest advice when planning long journeys hate to be that guy but they def sold out in the queue. I was #75
@ m00man sorry amigo but you're wrong, I went to the invader queue and after they gave out the tickets went for a coffee then a pint with a couple of forum amigos while waiting for everyone else to pay for their prints. When we got back everyone had paid and we went in to get ours and asked if it had sold out and were told there were about some still available of the grey, it didn't sell out till the Saturday.
@ pidge sorry for doubting you amigo you were right about those queue numbers, fortunately made it down from Brum in time to bag one and as standard arrived at the same time as sonnyone and xmyart
@chyren mate was awesome seeing you again, a pleasure as always. Was still talking about some of the things you said today, you on top form amigo
In general the queue was a good laugh despite the weather and stik was a dude as always. Thought the imitate guys were a good bunch and very friendly.

It appears so, a feeble pastiche of Julian Opie. That people queue for hours in the pissing down rain is not driven by the love of art on this occasion I suspect, but driven (largely) by the love of money.

How about one wearing a dress, stick woman? hype hype hype. just because it takes 15 minutes to paint a piece does not mean itโs not a master piece... these are for sure not master pieces! I think the Dulwich project will be a good gauge of where he might be able to take his work in the future. If he can make the reinterpretations of the old masters stik stick, I feel he's onto a winner. As for now, they're light hearted, colourful, emotive and make me smile - I'm happy with that. Most people who see his Stik figures - certainly people I've shown my pieces to - seem to have the same response which explains the rise in popularity as he's getting more exposure. I think boatyyy summed it up quite well in her earlier post, they speak universally.
And, now for something completely different...
Has anyone else noticed that the red on the "Walk" print isn't the most reddish red? Mine has a definite pinkish tone, almost coral pinky.
I took a picture of mine next to the show catalogue, (which is postbox red) for comparison, I took it about two hours ago, so the light wasn't the best and it doesn't really register...
Anyone else notice this?
