A true traveler. Internationally recognized we'd better call him.

Stik Walk Print, by saint on Apr 21, 2012 13:45:07 GMT 1, I forget, how many different places do you need to paint in before people stop going on about how many different places you've painted in?
I must have missed the email where it was decided....
Ps I could be wrong, but as the guy was homeless not too long ago perhaps he hasn't had the finances to go elsewhere? I'm sure he would love to pop to Bali and paint there if you asked him....

Stik Walk Print, by Layaway Days Art Blog on Apr 21, 2012 14:46:13 GMT 1, I try to go out of my way to be positive on this forum as with any forum, you will find negativity and the pejorative will take over. It's the perils of anonymity and key'bored' heroes. I've said what I will say on Stik. Seems like a nice enough guy and he is doing his thing. End of.
For me, I don't want any art on my walls of celebrities or geometric shapes as they aren't my cup of tea but have supported the artists on this forum by showing others their works as they are members here and they are doing their thing. I thought it was cool that Prefab (whose work I love) was working with Remi/Rough, thought it provided a new perspective. However, Remi/Rough have some bloody tact. If something isn't for you, awesome but grow the f up. I don't care about Karma/respect etc.... but your rep is taking a hit. Your art isn't for me but as I mentioned, it was good to see you grow/see your posts but I agree that you are coming off less than favorable. I think you can have an opinion without coming off so aggressive.

I'll grow the fuck up when you start actually reading what I wrote.... AGAIN I REPEAT!!!
I don't care or know or have an opinion about stik's work... I'm talking about the hilarious price point... If you really think I give a shit about 'my rep' being harmed by 10 people on an internet forum you're an idiot... And as far as I understand people respect people who have a fucking opinion... As opposed to people who have or offer no opinion.

Seriously Remi, most of the time it's not even worth having an opinion on here, as too many people are blinded, not by the art but by the latest hype. As I have said before let's see where this stuff is in a years time, just take Neate's and Micallef's work for example, and how they have plummeted in price, and they are top class, I will be interested to see where the price is of his canvas's and prints are in years to come. I think people have got this mixed up, this is five minute fun art, not fine art!!!!!

Stik Walk Print, by aa on Apr 21, 2012 17:54:36 GMT 1, Hi there, i'm new here so i thought i'd introduce myself by wading into this discussion - please go easy on me! I've just been at the gallery this afternoon and Stik is there now painting a big piece on one of their walls. I wanted to stick around (no pun intended!) but other half wanted to meet some friends... For what it's worth I thought the originals were really good, and I'd love one. I've been reading this thread for a while and think that any guy who can split opinion like this has got to be interesting to watch.

Stik Walk Print, by Deleted on Apr 21, 2012 19:25:24 GMT 1, It's really interesting to see how stik's art has developed over the years and how far he has come. It's great to see him doing so well.. I can't think of any other artist that deserves this more than him. I think the price is a reflection of all the hard work and effort he has put in. Such a really nice guy I'm looking forward to see what the future holds for him

Stik Walk Print, by nipper on Apr 21, 2012 19:53:55 GMT 1, I went over to IM this afternoon to find Stik drawing in a sketch book for (and with) some young kids. He seemed to enjoy doing that and was relaxed and talkative. The gallery guy was made-up with the response the show has had. Both seemed very genuine. Also had a great time at the ROA and C125 shows today. Both artists in attendance at those too. Saw a number of the new C125s around Brick Lane which are fresh and sparkling in the sunshine. The ROA stuff is simply stunning though. All started off with trips to Sister Ray and Rough Trade East so had to lugs bags of vinyl round but I'm not complaining!

Please dont get me wrong the next question is as honest as can be, my previous critique on stik is, just as that of RR onthe price. But, Could you please show/explain the development you talk about? I visit art fora to learn and educate myself, so now I ask you or other fans to point it out to me. Would love to be surprised
(even after rereading this I cansee that people could read sarcasm in my post. I guarantee, my question is honest)

Stik Walk Print, by t3c on Apr 22, 2012 11:50:17 GMT 1, I live pretty close to where i think Stik used to squat, the original lovers piece is on the side of a building on Dalston Lane. A friend of mine found a canvas left out on the street about 2 years ago of what i believe to be one of Stik's. Only difference to his normal work is that the lines are draw quite rough and raggedy and not clinically straight like his normal style. I should get her to lug it down to one of his shows sometime and get it sigged if he's cool doing it.

Interesting, it would be good to see some shots of the older stuff from the last 10 yrs
