GWB Canvas, by buffruffly on Sept 26, 2007 15:25:26 GMT 1, The time has come, with great regret, to sell a very special picture of mine. The canvas is number 8/25, bought in 2003 by myself from Santa's Ghetto. Comes with provenance from Laz and original receipt. Excellent condition, box framed in acrylic, one careful owner. It was valued at ยฃ45k at the end of last year and I know a couple have sold for ยฃ50k recently so I'd be looking at offers in that area.

GWB Canvas, by buffruffly on Sept 26, 2007 15:56:45 GMT 1, the ones from this edition were definitely NOT signed. If you look at the ones from the same edition that were sold at Sotheby's last year, none of them were signed, only tagged.

GWB Canvas, by neutral on Sept 26, 2007 16:27:28 GMT 1, I have not seen the 25 of them, but it could also well be like Precision Bombing canvases, some signed and some unsigned. He did signed a lot of his editions. Anyway I am saying that as it could affect the sale value somehow.

GWB Canvas, by uglyiq on Sept 26, 2007 16:37:43 GMT 1, ...not sure it's entirely fair for someone who has never owned or seen one of these to offer not just an opinion but a statement about whether it should be signed or not and that not being signed would affect the value...I appreciate you're a 4Star-Good-Karma member but sounds like you're raining on someone else's parade here...
...I have one of these, it's my pride and joy, I bought it from the ghetto personally in 2003 and inspected quite a few to pick the one I liked best, none of them were signed, so that's 2 people that own them saying 'Not-Signed'

GWB Canvas, by jonpud on Sept 26, 2007 16:44:47 GMT 1, I want it but unfortunately I find myself a little financially embarrassed this week having bitten the bullet and decided after much soul searching as to whether or not I could really afford it but in the end I thought what the fuck you only live once and god how nice it would look on my bathroom wall so i did it I even emptied my basket on 6 occasions not sure if I was just being cavalier with my money and was it a safe investment and did i really like it enough to spend all that money on it and I came to the conclusion that if I didn't buy it soon I would be kicking myself for the rest of my life for once having it in my basket and then letting it go for some flipper to make a soddin fortune on it without even understanding the quality of the piece and not understanding the mentality of the appreciator of art who really wanted to buy this at cost but then lost it to some random arse profit seeker so I really did it 7th time lucky in my basket and now I am waiting for the postman to knock with my new print entitled Harder by Zbiok only just got in there #34/100. Phew!
So as you can see, as much as I love your canvas, I am skint this week, sorry and good luck with the sale!

GWB Canvas, by dotdot on Sept 26, 2007 16:47:07 GMT 1, I don't think this series of pieces signed or unsigned make that much of a difference.
Not sure why - perhaps that fact that this could well be the piece for which mr B is best remembered - not sure why - and yes it can be seen and is by many to be far better than 'kate'.
Kate has an identity - many people don't want to associate themselves with an identity hence Kate is unfort tarnished
Keep it mate - sell everything else - keep this
or ok then sell it to me - pm me

Regardless of the 4 stars and what you may think about jumping on someone else parade... I am mearly giving my opinion with what I have SEEN. I am unsure we will hear about the 23 others... unfortunately. Of course the work is coming with bullet proof provenance, yet if i was to spend 50k, I will actually prefer if it was signed.

Just that signature which does make a lot of difference!
I profess to know nothing about these canvases however, aint got a clue if any signed or not!?

According to your earlier thread you haven't seen this Ed ? I'm not having a go I just don't think I'd be so quick to offer my opinion about something I haven't personally seen...
Anyway, good luck with the sale, though I agree w/ earlier comments, if there's 1 Banksy piece I'd would go to my grave clinging onto it would be this... That's a fair chunk of change to sneak past CGT as well...do you have a cunning plan ?

GWB Canvas, by buffruffly on Sept 26, 2007 18:14:33 GMT 1, yes, that's a different edition. None of the single canvases were signed. These double canvases were sold only through Lazinc, not through POW/Santa's Ghetto as was the case with the single canvases. the double canvases were issued a lot later - i.e. in 2005, not 2003. I can only imagine people buying from a gallery expected them to be signed, so Laz did it that way.
