Great to see the amount of detail achieved in Penny's work using paper stencils!

Penny ๐ฌ๐ง Money Artist โข Banknote โข Art For Sale & Wanted, by atomone on May 20, 2012 12:48:01 GMT 1, Popped along yesterday with my daughter, have to say that Penny and the R&R manager were true gents! My daughter was given a box to stand on so she could try her hand at the 2p machine, they even gave her bags of cash to make sure she didn't leave empty handed! She did her dad proud and managed to get 5 coins out of the machine and when 1 of them was blank Penny stencilled it for her! He also stencilled 2 50p pieces for us too, plus did a stencil in her sketchbook! Was well worth popping in that's for sure! I was given some signed showcards too which I will give away on a new thread later as chyren has kindly done too! Was hoping to give some coins away but she's bagged the lot! Even my one off 50p! Kids eh!

Penny ๐ฌ๐ง Money Artist โข Banknote โข Art For Sale & Wanted, by swabie2424 on May 20, 2012 22:30:17 GMT 1, Hey guys, I really need some advice about framing these notes. I have the Abe's Babes trio and am flirting with having a custom acrylic display made for them. I talked to a guy here in Los Angeles who does this, and he's thinking it would be three pieces. A 1/4 inch top piece that will be UV coated so they don't fade, a 1/2 inch back piece and then a 1/16 piece in between with three bill sized holes cut into the acrylic so the notes "fit" in each cut out and won't move. All three pieces held together by 4 or 6 posts that will allow everything to fit together nicely and look like one finished block. It will be thick enough where I could simply stand the display on its side. My wall space is filling fast, so this is ideal. I can display these on my mantle, desk etc and save wall space.
I know in the past there has been some discussion about using acrylic. Is it archival? Is there such a thing as archival acrylic? Don't all the big money grading companies put bills in acrylic holders? Is there a huge risk about doing what I've planned? What are my alternatives?
I really, really want to do what is the best for the notes, but I also want a display where I can see both sides of the notes and not have it be a traditional "frame".
I welcome any /all thoughts.

What you are proposing is exactly the same as the ones I have that were framed by Mr Framer Man. I would say go for it they look ace

However I do have at least one picture that isn't like anything posted yet, so thanks to the incredible generosity of Babydave who gave me the Penny piece and a 15+ year old pet, here is something completely different

have a look at the show thread and see how antome framed his three notes together in a lovely gold frame. I think it depends on the style you are after.
#Gibbon - that is more than ace

It's amazing how what I'm doing is so similar to gibby, and I'm halfway around the world and had never seen his piece before. I'll be sure to post pictures when my piece is done. It's going to be in the ballpark of gibby's as that is what I'm after. Mine might have metal posts on the corners....
Seems like the acrylic shouldn't harm the pieces and will protect them well.

Not sure how to frame them but there are some good starting points here that do not detract from the piece. Still loving Atomone's frame job
Things have moved on since my last post. Penny's framed and on the walls. Thanks for all the comments on the framing..
