A Warning To Forum Members, by Trevorm on Apr 3, 2012 10:08:19 GMT 1, I can take your pictures for you, Craig, as every single pic I take has got: me in it (reverse shot of a bald bloke holding a camera) or at least a glaring light bulb or the sun. I'm intrigued as to how/why the practice under 'debate' is deemed illegal and how any scammer can actually make a return doing it. Hi Trev Its illegal because its illegal to attempt to sell something that you do not own and do not have the consent of the owner to sell. How the money is made is simple. Just as an example. I post a picture of my OS Gemeos original with no intention to sell. The 3rd party takes that image and offers it to a select number of people. They get a firm offer and then try to buy it for less from me. So you might argue that if I sell than no harm has been done. I would say its highly immoral but the real problem arises when you say no and you are unaware your artwork has been offered around for months on the secondary market. I do not believe watermarks will stop this happening as stock images will be found.
Thanks Neil - As suspected really. I guess the 'perp' could also probably argue, if threatened with the police that a verbal agreement had been established with the owner of the piece.
Such a shame, this, as it's always a joy to see high end stuff (nearly) in the flesh.

A Warning To Forum Members, by Trevorm on Apr 3, 2012 8:50:23 GMT 1, It would be a real shame if people stopped posting their art on here, but at the same time this is a good heads up to people. So how do I as a luddite watermark a photo?

WTB Empire's State - 175 Edition, by Trevorm on Mar 14, 2012 17:31:51 GMT 1, ยฃ1,100 upwards. One of the guys picked one up for that on ebay recently. I missed one at ยฃ1,200 in January as I didn't have the readies then Wave. tried to pm you with a tempting offer - but me message keeps being returned. Let me know what you'd be tempted by! T Not sure why pm is being returned? Opus Art has one at 2.5. I would have thought these were somewhere in the region of 1.8 - 2k privately and unframed going by the history of sales (expressobeans). That would tempt me! Mine is from the edition of 175, was a 475 edition done? If one popped up on ebay for ยฃ1200 then someone got a great deal IMO. I wouldn't want to sell mine for that sort of price unfortunately but genuinely all the best with your search.
Thanks for that. PM me if there's anything (I might [?] have) framed or unframed that might swing a deal + the cash I have

Flattening Prints โข Creased, Folded, Rolled or Rippled , by Trevorm on Mar 5, 2012 17:17:54 GMT 1, Best result would be a refund. As portfolio says you'll always remember the damage and be aware of it even when it's framed.
I had a Dan Baldwin print arrive with what I guess would be similar damage - the (ebay) seller had managed to get it into a tube that was too short, he'd compressed the edges when pushing the tube inserts in. I ended up with an offer for a full refund but took a part refund, kept the print and 'repaired' it myself.
De ionised water; a fine atomiser; good quality brown paper. Try it out on some dummy runs. Worked a treat for me

Banksy Gorilla Print Release - POW, by Trevorm on Feb 29, 2012 14:26:46 GMT 1, Here's a cunning plan:
I run a medium sized electronics company (don't really) and i could send some of my men up to Comm st later - just in case there is a release next week (or the week after, obviously) - to install some dummy CCTV cameras above and around the entrance to POW. Thinks!...........
Hang on a minute! Why don't POW install a real system, even on a temporary basis, to monitor this years goings on it'd be as effective as security bods. Probably more effective.
Or how about one of my other Companys (not true either) provides full size card board cutouts of forum members + BANKSY POLICE uniforms to slip into to patrol, Dave the Albanian; his family and friends and the other by now orderly queue as a result of all the CCTV that's appeared.

Banksy Gorilla Print Release - POW, by Trevorm on Feb 28, 2012 13:17:56 GMT 1, If it's a queue - Don't worry about big Dave (the Albanian)
I'm getting half a doz signs made up for random distribution on or outside assorted vacant looking retail outfits away from Commercial Street
"BANKSY" Ju lutem radhe per shtyp ketu
There are accents over some of the 'e's - but I don't know how to put them up
Might work. Oh yes ........ translates to: 'Please queue here for prints'

Nick Walker TMA Empire State A/P SOLD, by Trevorm on Feb 27, 2012 23:25:53 GMT 1, ^ Have a look back through some of the fairly recent threads - there's a reference by one or more forum members to that effect. Me? I'm still looking for an Empire's State I think that we can find threads where virtually every artist on here is criticized at one point or the other, and with people opining that their work is greatly overpriced. There are definitely spikes that many artists go through, where prices skyrocket out of proportion after a print is released, but usually, given a little time, the anomalous sales become apparent, and prices tend to stabilize. I personally love Nick Walker's work, and hope that prices drop precipitously so that I can buy a few.
I love Nick Walker's work also. I have 4 other Nick Walker prints and apart from any other miscellaneous purchases or trades would like my next acquisition to be an Empire's State.
Unfortunately, even though prices are dropping, I don't think I will be able to afford an AP like the one that is the main part of this thread.
Good luck to mattyg with the sale and best wishes to the new owner in waiting

Nick Walker TMA Empire State A/P SOLD, by Trevorm on Feb 27, 2012 17:14:15 GMT 1, Your AP Empire's State will command a premium over the 175 edition - dunno how much. But I just missed one of the lesser versions at ยฃ1,200 on the bay recently.
TMA Moscow at ยฃ600 sounds about right - but word has it that NW's prints are not sooooooo desirable at the mo
