Speak & Spell, by bsimkin on Aug 10, 2011 21:11:34 GMT 1, I remember when POW news meant something cool and exciting was going up.
Amen.
Underwhelming release after release. Even their writes-ups don't sound too enthused anymore. I used to just like reading the write up even if I wasn't buying the print. These guys need to pare down their roster and go back to focusing on really fresh sh*t.

New BAST Prints up now!, by bsimkin on Jul 23, 2011 17:53:48 GMT 1, Well thank you fingerz. How do I do it from my hardrive? File path? I will say I'm very glad to have my first bast, just wondering what your alls take is on the stencil lineup. You can tell where these were supposed to line up. A slight shift, yes. Not gonna lose sleep over it, but it makes me wonder why the composition was thrown off a bit.
there you go

New BAST Prints up now!, by bsimkin on Jul 23, 2011 17:05:08 GMT 1, Got my Piggy. General question for the forum. This is my first Bast purchase, so I'm not familiar with variations.
What do you guys think about this.. I'm thrilled to have my first Bast, but I was kinda surprised upon seeing that the stencil work didn't line up (piggy and the gold key foods). What are your alls thoughts? Thanks.
Btw. Sorry if the attachment is separate. Not web savvy enough to include it in the body here.

Mr Brainwash & Red Hot Chili Peppers, by bsimkin on Jul 15, 2011 14:53:49 GMT 1, Its almost enough to put me off the album.
Agreed. Not that Stadium Arcadium didn't solidfy their fall from grace for me. This is a new low. What happened to the Blood Sugar Sex Magik Chilli Peppers? They were at the top of their game, albeit 20 years ago. Oh well. Guess this will only give more 'credibility' to mr.lamewash in the public domain and keep him in the spotlight.

New Bast work available 7/13, by bsimkin on Jul 13, 2011 16:56:35 GMT 1, Le Benzo available again. Anyone want to drop a Finster? I like this one but I'd rather have something with a little color going on. Have too many pieces with guns. people gonna think I'm frickin lunatic.
Yes it maybe the answer, or alternatively 2 or 3 release times which are published and it gives everyone the same opportunity to buy.... You have no chance if you work and are interested in owning a print..... without knowing the time they are released.... Sorry to moan, but i was desperate for one of these as my first Bast piece.... Back to Ebay for me then... :-( Agreed. Didn't even see one "Buy" button the whole day ! One release for all of them at at given time (know by everybody) would have been much better <=> people selective on their choice and fair chance for everybody. This was rubbish for people at work ...

OBEY - Album Cover Box Sets, by bsimkin on Jun 29, 2011 19:01:08 GMT 1, no secret. He gave a time schedule. I was on just before and F5'ed until they popped up. Plain and simple. No bot or inside line. Maybe my typing skills are a little faster then others by pounding out my paypal info so many times over the years. I was hoping to land this. As soon as I move into a new home I would love to decorate my basement with some of the large format albulm covers and 72 of these bad boys. I will look epic
Right on. No accusations. Just curiosity. Good work, man. I'm gonna have to get a faster connection and better fingers. (place i'm currently working at doesn't have the best internet speeds).
And please post pictures when you have that epic frame job done.
Hasta.

Dude, what's your secret? I swear Shepard has the worst payment system known to man. F'in paypal and there awfully linked service. Are you using some sort of script, that's the only way I think it's even possible to maneuver through all of paypals unnecessary and repetitive prompts and offers. well, whatever. Congrats, man. Atleast we know one of these isn't going to be flipped on the bay in a few minutes.

Sending prints from the UK to USA advice required, by bsimkin on Jun 9, 2011 21:23:04 GMT 1, they have agents out in the US and can easily arrange collection and delivery to the UK.
Are you referring to Flight Logistics, Zippy?
I'm trying to send a reasonably small OG back to an artist in London to have restored. So far, I've checked with the main carriers here (fedex, dhl, ups) and they all want silly money ($250).
The united states post office can do it for a lot less, but they won't be able to fully insure the piece.
I'm looking into having a friend or family member traveling to London to hand deliver it to the artist. Might be my best bet.
Any advice from forum members that have sent from US to UK, please chime in. Thanks!!

FAILE Large Edition Prints - Paper Monster - June?, by bsimkin on Jun 6, 2011 15:17:51 GMT 1, what pisses me off is the total lack of information about this release. seems they don't care about the fans. Don't know the price so I don't know if I have enough cashon my CC. So i have to recharge my paypal account without knowing if I like the image. And, of course, I'll have the cash, love the image and miss it like most of the latest releases!
I'm with you on all the above anarquee. This will be my first purchase through Paper Monster (hopefully). I don't use my paypal account that often and ultimately had problems a few weeks ago with Obey Giant large format releases.
I do have bank accounts directly linked to my Paypal, so I don't think I need to have cash transfered in there beforehand. Any knowledge on that would be great.
But the bottom line, how does Paper Monsters' sales work cause Obey's site is garbage in terms of paypal. I heard someone talking earlier about a shopping cart timer or was that a next available print timer? Anyway, looking for success and hoping Faile release is in the same style of their recent mosaic prints.. Thanks for any help.

Banksy & D*Face, OBEY, MBW For Sale or Trade..., by bsimkin on Jun 4, 2011 16:54:10 GMT 1, interesting how you call him anoob but hes been registered for four years more than you have? the things that make you go hmmmm hmmmm !!! ;D
Lunchspecial and Theanimalart, thanks for pointing that out. Thought it was kinda funny myself. If I had to guessโpurely speculatingโbut The High Life joined right after Exit Through The Gift Shop was released. perhaps a new fan or just one for the opportunity.
It is true, I'm not a big poster on the forum in comparison to this alleged 'art lover.' and if that makes me a N00b in his eyes, chalk one up for ignorance.
But Peacepig, I'll take your word. However, his 'collection' of Obey prints (including that awful Hello Kitty stack he showed and apparently took down from the board) only suggests to me that he's more in it for the profit (but if you ask me, Obey isn't where you're gonna profit much. 50+ releases a year? meh. Furthermore, Obey doesn't even design any of his prints. It's all a factory now. Or, at least, that's what some old Obey collectors have noted.)
Either way, maybe I'm just a tad envious that I don't have the cash flow at the moment to add to my collection. Have had to pass on a lot of things. But there's some releases coming up that I hope to get in on. Gone are the days where prints were readily accessible (I remember the days of the Banksy prints that were sitting there on POW begging to be bought.) Now you got to deal with all these print snatchers posing as 'art lovers.' The best thing to do, buy what you like, not the hype, and all will be good. unless that's not your motivation.
Ride on.

Faile puzzle boxes, by bsimkin on Jun 3, 2011 19:54:40 GMT 1, Can't believe there isn't a bigger discussion on this C215 Puzzle Box (2008) vs. Faile Puzzle Box (2011)? Shock? Denial? or Indifference?
I think the concept has been around before C215, but I can understand people's questioning of the similarities. I just did a Google search for 'wood puzzle blocks' and it returned quite a bit of results.
As for the piece itself, the Faile puzzles are more intricate and immersive than the C215 pieceโFrom an aesthetic point of view as well as a functional point of view. Flipping over the Faile blocks doesn't make for identical puzzles that's been varied in color only (like the C215 piece).
I can see the dismay, but the Faile piece is a lot more exciting and rich in detail, themes and imagery.

Visit CHICAGO ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by bsimkin on May 6, 2011 17:01:12 GMT 1, Hey peeps! I spent over 3 hours at Art Chicago last weekend. Saw the Obey Revoultions exhibition. Some of the smaller album covers were still available for 2,000 a pop (editions of 8).
Saw some pretty cool stuff overall. Street art wise, a gallery had a Mr Brainwash 'Madonna.' Kinda surprised and Disappointed not to see anything Banksy. I would say, overall, the street art scene was severely underrepresented considering the amount of galleries (over 200 i think). On top of that, there were quite a few artists stealing street art ideas and the not (one guy even made Rubik cube portraits a la space invader. go figure)
Well, here are the pictures I took. Enjoy!!
crackade.blogspot.com/2011/05/crackade-visits-art-chicago.html
Cheers.

Gaia ๐บ๐ธ Street Art โข Print Release โข Art For Sale, by bsimkin on Mar 28, 2011 16:58:46 GMT 1, hey guys, I had the opportunity to see Gaia's show that opened this past Friday at The Maxwell Colette Gallery in Chicago. Stuff looked amazing in person. There is a print available as well. Edition of 50. Looks sweet. Didn't get a picture of it. Gonna try and buy one this week when my cash supply gets restocked.
Feel free to check out my post on my blog (Crackade). I posted some pictures I took as well as some pieces from around Chicago from Gaia's flickr page.
His oil work is incredible btw. ;D The 8 foot tall Rooster was unreal in person.

new JR print out soon. i guess, by bsimkin on Mar 18, 2011 16:22:18 GMT 1, no offense bsimkin but hey, it's crazy to notice how many people have been considering this print for more then one full year. i mean, how unlucky is that right when everybody was almost ready to buy it, the price got higher! right in that very exact moment! we should also consider the other way around here i guess wich is: now that JR prices got higher and new prints are obviously going to cost more, a lot of people was finally considering to get the old one. wich (f**k!) is merely, 100%, opportunistic. it does not have anything to do with actually liking the print or wanting it on the wall. i'll tell you whats it about : "i'd better get this soon" and that's just about the value! nothing else. it's just 'cause it would have looked cheaper now that everything else from JR is more expehensive. and what's cool to me is that no, its not cheaper now. and if people wants it because of its value, or potential value in the future, they have to do the same bet they've been waiting to do for one year. only this time it's going to cost more. i see it as part of the game. im sad too that it's out of your price range now, i mean it. and im not being sarcastic it all makes so much sense though : we are all opportunists
Hey, I don't disagree one bit. demand will always be the deciding factor and we all did have the opportunity to purchase at its previous price. It's a game of value. Personally and potentially. I prefer the personal aspect about it, but who can really ignore the forward looking aspect. I am happy with the collection I have been able to afford in the short time I've been collecting. I've obviously have been waiting for the right time financially to start buying again (last piece I bought was back in May of last year).
I think from a release perspective, I believe in a constant edition selling price. I think back to all those Banksy prints sitting up on POW end of 05/ beginning of 06. Ones I kick myself for not buying obviously (I did nab one thanks to a less crowded market), but also for the fact that they were what they were. No increase based on his rising notoriety. In fact, I think those lower prices helped POW and him clear out their inventory (easy point of entry) and increase future demand for other prints that would follow and sell out in a matter of minutes.
I wish the best for JR and his career. It looks like a lot more people are going to be hearing about this guy in the coming year now that his TED wish is under way. He deserves it. And maybe down the road I'll be able to snag one to hang proudly on my wall. I'm fine with my 28mm book

no offense bsimkin but hey, it's crazy to notice how many people have been considering this print for more then one full year. i mean, how unlucky is that right when everybody was almost ready to buy it, the price got higher! right in that very exact moment! we should also consider the other way around here i guess wich is: now that JR prices got higher and new prints are obviously going to cost more, a lot of people was finally considering to get the old one. wich (f**k!) is merely, 100%, opportunistic. it does not have anything to do with actually liking the print or wanting it on the wall. i'll tell you whats it about : "i'd better get this soon" and that's just about the value! nothing else. it's just 'cause it would have looked cheaper now that everything else from JR is more expehensive. and what's cool to me is that no, its not cheaper now. and if people wants it because of its value, or potential value in the future, they have to do the same bet they've been waiting to do for one year. only this time it's going to cost more. i see it as part of the game. im sad too that it's out of your price range now, i mean it. and im not being sarcastic it all makes so much sense though : we are all opportunists Hey, I don't disagree one bit. demand will always be the deciding factor and we all did have the opportunity to purchase at its previous price. I think back to all those Banksy prints sitting up on POW end of 05/ beginning of 06. new JR print out soon. i guess, by bsimkin on Mar 18, 2011 14:44:35 GMT 1, Ebay shouldnt be the reasons - by upping the price, that just means the next one to sell on ebay will sell for more. Its all relative. If they didnt sell out at 300 euros, there is a lot less of a chance of them selling out at 400. Saying that i was going to pull the trigger at 300 euros, its only when i went to check out, i saw the price increase.
I, too, am disappointed. Was considering this print at its listed price of 300 euro. Seems a bit opportunistic and what not to increase to 400. Now out of my price range and an unlikely purchase. My guess is the new print they are releasing is going to be 400+ and studiocromie doesn't want their older edition taking away from sales of higher priced new print. Just an opinion. Sad, nonetheless. But, hey, it's their prerogative. I'll just have to get lucky elsewhere when my tax refund comes in.

Xenz 'Different Strokes' prints at Blicker Gallery, by bsimkin on Mar 14, 2011 0:54:01 GMT 1, There used to be a bunch of Xenz APs and hand finished prints at Blicker (i believe), but for some reason the Bicker Gallery is not functioning. Anyone know what is going on and if those 'Different Strokes' prints are still available. Last time I was on there site they were, but that was a few months ago. Any help, much thanks.

Wow, the show looks so000 tight. Pieces are all up on White Walls if it wasn't already mentioned. Wish I could snag one. Looks like some are still available though no cost is listed. I'm broke anyway. Put some of the Canvases as well as Eine's Latest Bigger Faster on my blog.
