Japanese Artists , by tobeannounced on Jun 1, 2017 13:30:48 GMT 1, In my search for a Shohei Otomo print, I stumbled across this site, that seeks to introduce Japanese art to the french. I wrote them, and they have no problems shipping to other countries as well, and I finally got a print from Shohei.
Anyway, just wanted to share the link in here, there is a ton of beautiful artwork to be had.
www.tsubaqui.com/
PS. they sent out my prints today, I will let you know about the outcome, but thus far top-notch service, as one might expect from Japan.

Info about "Peace Girl" aka. "Make Art Not War", by tobeannounced on May 30, 2017 15:14:10 GMT 1, I'm looking for the "Peace Girl" print from Shepard Fairey, that also sometimes goes under the name "Make Art Not War", but I have a few questions regarding the image.
My understanding is that there is a signed & numbered 18 X 24 inch version
Then there is an open edition(?) signed but not numbered in a slightly different colourway and a size of 24 X 36 inches.
And then the image can be reproduced for sale, as long as the proceeds goes to charity, or so most of the poster listings say on eBay.
Is the above correct, or is there something I'm missing? I've been looking for the signed/numbered version, but the reproductions are really making it hard to make sure everything is legit.

Not for Sale., by tobeannounced on May 29, 2017 23:25:35 GMT 1, maseo7
I think the quality is good, nice and thick and I like the colour grading on it. I have it rolled up in storage with a bunch of other prints, as I am rebuilding the house for the next two months. As soon as I am done, I will have et framed up and on the wall, and I can post some pictures of it then... If I remember it, or if you remind me :-)

Not for Sale., by tobeannounced on May 29, 2017 14:30:26 GMT 1, Around 1500 +- a couple of hundred USD is pretty reasonable, I would give that if it was within the EU.
I'm looking for one, but I just bought the "open edition" poster variant and I am happy to wait this out, untill the right offer comes along. Judging by the PM's I've recieved there are a lot of sellers, so I'm not to worried.

Artists who should of BLOWN UP ..... But haven't. , by tobeannounced on Apr 20, 2017 10:22:57 GMT 1, I don't own any Pose or D'Face prints, but those are the two that in my opinion are the most valid choices, they are consistent in their style and unique enough in their imagery to stand out, but they'd need some serious PR work with a good story to get "out there".
When you look at artists like Hirst, Banksy, Invader and Kaws, they all have their own unique recognisable style and have had smart PR, my family, my friends, my co-workers know who these artists are, that's why they command such high prices, because regular people want to own them - but can't.
When people come to my house, they think my Blek piece is a Banksy... and that's why Blek (or any other stencil artist working in that lane) will never command the same prices as banksy, not saying he won't be out of reach over time, but Banksy will just be even more out of reach, that's why an Omega Seamaster will never cost as much as a Rolex Submariner :-D
And in my opinion Blek has just had terrible PR, being they guy that "fathered" Banksys style isn't exactly a very appealing storyline, most people don't care who Kool Herc is... even though "The Get Down" on Netflix might change that, maybe Blek just needs his own Netflix series... if Banksy doesn't beat him to it, hahaha.
Shepard Fairy aka. OBEY is more of a "brand" and I suspect he makes a TON of money that way. I've been wearing Obey clothing for a decade and almost everyone I know have a poster or something from him, as the output is huge. Over time I think his OG's and some of his prints will definetely rise beyond reach, but I think it'll be a steady incline and that it will always be in his favor to have some entry level work available to sell the brand forward to younger generations, my 12 year old is beginning to dig up all of my wifeys old OBEY t-shirts out of the closet, because the older kids at her school are telling her that OBEY is "swag", hahaha - in other words, he's a made man.
A couple of years ago I would definetely have said DRAN, JR and Takashi Murakami, but not so much now, mostly because of the relatively high entry level pricing at a time where owning art is a "thing".
Generally I just think this whole "limited print" thing is really a gift and a curse, on the one hand art is becoming more readily available, and a lot of artists are finding viable income, on the other hand, people are WAY over-hyping artists in hopes of making a quick turn-around as prints are being flipped at a 100% markup almost instantly, and then re-flipped at a 100% markup, and then... rinse and repeat... but in that way they are smothering the natural exposure of artists that never reach beyond the closed art circles, they aren't acknowledging that it's the "regular" folks that define the prices, not the other way around. You end up with a bunch of artists, that are out of reach for most, before they even know they want it, so the prices stagnate and you end up with a bunch of people that have semi-invested in prints that where already over-priced when they bought them.
Jay-Z has always been a huge success in my world, but it wasn't untill my mother mentioned him in a conversation, that I knew that he'd really made it... Last year I was in Paris with my kids, the 12 year old pointed to an Invader piece on the wall and said; "hey, that's Invader" and took a picture for snapchat.. 'nuff said... If you really want to know who will "blow up", you have to look outwards not inwards.

Takashi Murakami Enso Print Inverse Set, by tobeannounced on Apr 19, 2017 7:54:22 GMT 1, I've just bought 2 (the tranquility and intellection) that don't come for sale so often at 1000 USD each, and I think you are a bit high on the pricing of these. Right now you can get the two prints you have for aprox 800 USD a piece on the bay.

New Ebay Global Shipping tax on Artwork to the UK, by tobeannounced on Apr 13, 2017 0:22:24 GMT 1, "Import charges don't include: Any customs duties, taxes, surcharges, fines, penalties, or other charges which may be imposed on you by customs or tax officials after an item purchased through the Global Shipping Program has successfully cleared customs and been delivered to, or made available for pickup at, the delivery address that you specify. Import charges are in addition to the customs duties and taxes imposed by country tax and customs officials" So because of that, I no longer shop from US buyers who aren't willing to turn off the GSP on their items... most are happy to oblige though. I was told otherwise by ebay - they stated that it would go door to door without issue or further charges from customs. It was all covered. It's their own words: pages.ebay.com/help/buy/shipping-globally.html
Where I live (Denmark), there are very strict guidelines and rules in regards to import taxes, VAT and customs in general, and I don't want to take the risk in paying 20% to eBay, only to be charged an additional 25% (import taxes + VAT) + fixes custom fee (aprox 20 GBP)... I'd rather just my parcel be procesed by the danish customs, so that I just end up paying what I have to one time only.

question re: "trying here first before taking to ebay", by tobeannounced on Apr 12, 2017 21:53:14 GMT 1, I find this take it to eBay threat hilarious as I can normally get it cheaper there anyways.
Ha, ha, yeah me too. I haven't been on here for so long, but I've come to find that this forum is a flippers paradise with the prices offered being at gallery level sometimes, the few searches I've had on here have (mostly) been way overpriced and I've been able to aquire them on eBay for less than here.

JR Artwork, VALUATION, by tobeannounced on Apr 10, 2017 1:37:41 GMT 1, I know it's a classic photo, but considering it was made as an unsigned open edition poster and that the print has been made in three different editions (as far as I can gather, edition of 250, 180 and 80) I just think the image is to readily available to be bringing in that kind of cash.
JR's newer prints haven't exactly been selling out at record speeds and are priced quite high, for all I know he might try and re-vamp his brand by re-releasing some of his classic images... next year will mark the 10 year aniversary of the picture, who knows - maybe a new edition by then (just som wiiiiild assumptions)
I was searching for one and kept getting offers around the 2K+ GBP mark, but I just thought it was to much.
I finally got offered one for 1300 GBP which I thought was much more reasonable, but the seller didn't want to unframe it for shipping, so it didn't go through.
Right now, I'd be willing to give 1500 GBP tops, and even then I'd have to think about it.

Entire Collection for sale, by tobeannounced on Mar 30, 2017 21:41:27 GMT 1, How much are you looking for the "La Haine" print, and who is the artist, I haven't seen that print before. The print itself seems to be a bit of a home made job I suspect. I really liked it though. Its signed and from an edition of 50. The Artist seems to be Michael Speaker ? The signiture is tricky to read. I've only got the print to go on, the ebay link has long gone and the sale went through only as number: 190071230504 ' VINCENT CASSEL La Haine'. Artist signed print. Its a bit of an oddity really, but I really like it. It's not going to break the bank price wise. Please feel free to make me an offer on it. Can you tell me what the measurements are?

I was wondering what people had hanging out there - or just knew about, I just bought 3 of the Mark Drew "Deez Nuts" prints, and I'll post some pictures when I get them framed.
I can kick it off with a photo of the hilarious (in my opinion) "Wu Tan" print from danish artist HuskMitNavn, that I was gifted when I turned 30... this is just a stock photo, my phone camera is fu***ed.
photo upload

Hypersized Jordan Paintings, by tobeannounced on Mar 15, 2017 9:06:06 GMT 1, WOW!
The black IV looks insanely cool and the III's are my favorite Jordans of all time (insert Kanye voice), I'm a HUGE Nike head and love the concept... now if you ever made some Air Max, I would buy one in a heartbeat!
I'll definitely share these with some massive sneaker-heads I know, they might jump on them.
Glwts!

Personally I think they are way over priced, and frankly I just don't see the appeal. Making the tags in all those multiple colourways, just makes it look like a design manual for a new "hip" urban streetwear blog and it doesn't give any sort of true reference to his graffiti tagging roots.
Compared to Cope2 or Seen, this just seems completely void of any originality or "soul" in regards to graffiti culture.
But hey, the guy is a living legend who pretty much invented modern graffiti tagging, so they will be worth a shit ton of money in 50-60 years time, no doubt about it.
Now, if he started doing collaborative prints to "spice" things up a bit, that would be interesting. Like the Todd James X Barry McGee print or the Cope2 X Obey stuff.

Art wanted: Shohei Otomo, by tobeannounced on Mar 14, 2017 9:07:54 GMT 1, I know I should be posting this in the "Art Wanted" section, but I simply can't create threads in that section, so maybe a mod can move this over where it should be.
Anyway, I'm looking for any kind of Shohei Otomo prints, so hit me up if you have one to sell.
