Say what?, by mmmike on Mar 7, 2013 17:07:57 GMT 1, I received a condition report and I don't understand half of what is written there. Can I get some help please?
What does this mean?
"hinges verso attached to mount window recto"
I read it as hinges on the back attached to the matting in front of the print. Is that right? Nothing is attached to the front (recto) of the print correct?
Also it was called "good condition" how should I read that? Is that the same as near mint or like in baseball cards good is another word for shit.

Say what?, by tartarus on Mar 7, 2013 18:56:56 GMT 1, Ask them for pictures instead.
Sounds to me like hinges on back of print, to be attached to back of mount.
And yep, good condition for records and CD's also means "destroyed by a previous owner!". So well worth trying to get pics.

Say what?, by Deleted on Mar 7, 2013 19:07:13 GMT 1, Is it an auction report?, if so then i would expect it to be a lot worse in the flesh than they say, i suspect it has been on the floor for several days and kicked around by office monkeys then finally run under a hot tap and sh**ged by an Elephant. Good luck though, mmmike, your interpretation is close enough.

That is exactly my fear! Seems like not seeing the lot in person opens you up to a lot of risk. Since if the item is as described there is a good chance that I'd get out bid and if there are flaws then there is a good chance I'd win the auction.
This one would be a huge purchase for me so I'm leaning towards passing.

In the pic it looks great but I think pictures some times do lie.

Say what?, by Gard on Mar 7, 2013 22:02:35 GMT 1, My experience with auction houses is that they don't sell things with flaws. I asked for a condition report on a big purchase of mine and after reading it I almost backed out because it sounded like it was ruined. Glad I didn't and when I recieved it it loked mint. They are doing these things so when people with severe OCD look at their pictures they can't complain. I think..
