Low numbers, by sfinks on Jun 23, 2013 22:02:54 GMT 1, Its like anoraks anonymous, who cares about the number?, if its a run of 100 and i got number 359 then i would prob worry (a bit), but its just a number innit. Life = Get one. Its ok to have an opinion. But on a matter that actually so many care about, its pretty arrogant to tell them to get a life.

Low numbers, by Deleted on Jun 23, 2013 22:10:06 GMT 1, I received a print numbered 22/200, only problem was it was supposed to be from an edition of 400.
Artist in question apologised for drinking while numbering prints and told me to change it.
So if edition numbers bother you that much just get your eraser out and go for broke!

Low numbers, by Deleted on Jun 23, 2013 23:42:17 GMT 1, I can understand the idea behind wanting low number because it's the first from the screen so should be the most crisp but most printers will print them all leave them in the drying rack and then package them up randomly, after that the artist will get them look through them to check quality and then number which ever is in front of him as number 1. I know that was the case when i was producing the prints so to me it doesn't bother me at all screen printing has advanced so much that the screens stay pretty clean throughout the who printing process.

Low numbers, by gravity1 on Jun 24, 2013 0:05:53 GMT 1, Absolutely true .. numbers are almost always never indicative to their actuall order of production, unlike cars. Have spoke to many artists and they start the numbering after they retain their copies, labeling them 1 & 2 ect, if they do retain copies. There are many runs that also have blems and errors that are not caught immediately, then those are made up on a subsequent run. Main point is numbers mean only what they mean to the individual buying it.. nothing else. But then again who wouldn't pic a #1 over a #91...

Low numbers, by james2g on Jun 24, 2013 5:34:54 GMT 1, I have spoken to a few artists, all looked mortified at the fact that people were concerned about the numbering almost as much as the image they'd created.
