'Lines' on a new canvas. Is this normal???, by Deleted on Jun 15, 2013 0:21:33 GMT 1, Hi I recently got my Bomb Suit canvas and put photos up on here and I'm well happy. However, I've just noticed that when the light shines on it from an oblique angle you can see what appears to be indentations going in lines on the canvas. I didn't notice this as it doesn't show up in the daytime and I've been away for a few days but at night when the light from the bed side lamps shines on it it's really noticeable. It's on the white background and appears to be where the spray paint has been applied slightly less than in the surrounding areas. Is this normal for canvases or has there been some type of damage done to the canvas where it's been 'scraped' or something?
Sorry I don't know if I'm explaining this very well so I've put some photos up. In the first one the area that looks a bit like a big 'N' is slightly indented as it doesn't quite have as much spray paint on it as the areas surrounding it.
Any feedback is appreciated.

'Lines' on a new canvas. Is this normal???, by Deleted on Jun 15, 2013 0:48:54 GMT 1, There's a certain irony in purchasing this image and then wanting to protect it from uv and worrying about its 'imperfections'
(particularly in canvas form)

'Lines' on a new canvas. Is this normal???, by stvro22 on Jun 15, 2013 2:52:58 GMT 1, Put some water in a mister bottle and spray it on the area of concern on the BACK of the canvas. Should tighten up the crease. Spray enough to wet it well. Let us know if that helps. Send pic of back so I can see corner braces too.

If that doesn't work you can have it restretched. Definitely fixable.

'Lines' on a new canvas. Is this normal???, by nealmason1986 on Jun 15, 2013 8:06:20 GMT 1, I had one like this. I turned it around and tapped the wooden pegs into the corners of the canvas frame.
That stretches the canvas out as the pegs push the wood apart a fraction. It's one reason the pegs are there.
Mine worked a treat.

'Lines' on a new canvas. Is this normal???, by Daniel Silk on Jun 15, 2013 9:09:44 GMT 1, Don't worry about it it's just part of the character of the piece. When your talking about street art and urban art I think it's great if prints and canvases have a bit of overspray and texture just like it would be on the street.

'Lines' on a new canvas. Is this normal???, by ABC on Jun 30, 2013 16:58:10 GMT 1, More than likely, an uneven cover of inital gesso which would give you a slightly uneven surface to spray over, nothing to worry about.
