Novice collector here. Just wondering if it makes sense to use the same color frame (white) for all my prints. I've seen pics posted on the recent acquisition page by a forum member (don't remember who) who used beautiful white frames for his/her entire collection. It looked quite lovely - very sleek and contemporary.
I'm inclined to follow his/her lead, but then I think about unusually colored prints that I own (e.g. Bast's Dalston Unitooth) that wouldn't benefit from a white frame (I'm not really sure how to frame that one, to be honest).
I guess what I'm asking is this - do forum members strive to maintain unity and consistency with their collection by utilizing the same frame color choice for all of their prints, or does each individual print drive your framing decision?

Although on here have seen lots of nice alternate methods on here that's my way of doing. Note do not frame canvases.

Fwit, I've always tried to chose a frame that suits the artwork, and if this means not having matching frames, so be it. This does mean that there is a higgledy piggledy mixture of frames in any given room, but hopefully each frame suits each piece of art. But its all subjective. Frame how you like imo.

I've got white, black, brown, gold and cream frames, along with some perspex boxes and it's artwork dependent for me. I do have some that are framed identically with the same mounts and frames, but others are floated so it's done on an individual basis now.
I suppose if I framed them all the same I could try to sneak some new purchases in under the radar claiming ignorance when a new piece miraculously arrived on the wall - "New? No that's been there for ages..."
Worth a try anyway!

I've seen pieces framed in moulding that I would never have thought of using but once I've seen it done would definitely choose.

The same frame color for all your art, by Deleted on Jul 30, 2013 0:33:29 GMT 1, Look at what goes best with the artwork. That's what I've done and it looks fine. Ok the collection doesn't look 'uniform' but then I don't want it to be.
Take for example Handiedan (not sure if you know her work yet if you're a novice), she does great intricate work and 99% of the time her prints would not look good in a white frame.
I am very partial to white box frames but if I were you I'd ask yourself 'What frame goes with this print best' when you go to the Framers. I don't necessarily agree that it's just a frame and the art speaks for itself as IMO the frame can make or totally ruin a picture.
