I'm really not a big fan of squatters though as they have been trashing buildings around Brighton recently including a house being renovated by the children of an elderly lady who died so out of principle I wouldn't buy it! This is a debate for another time though so this is just my opinion.

Feels like what they've been missing for years !!
On the squatting thing... I guess some people do it for the right reasons (they need a home and are respectful), but a lot of the time it seems to be idiots who trash places... and they get the press coverage.

This is the Urban Art page on an art forum. If someone wants to start a 'Is squatting wrong or right' on the chat page then fine but I dont believe this is the place to do it. its not fair on the artist to just get into a squatting debate as this is supposed to be about the print they're releasing.
I was just saying why I wouldn't buy it. To be honest I would get quite bored of looking at it quite quickly too as once I'd read it a few times it wouldn't have te same impact.
I am secure in my views and have seen enough first hand of squatting here in Brighton (a hotbed for squatters) and the misery it can cause the building owners to get them out and the all night parties making the neighbours lives hell to have formed my opinion.

Seriously though, Squatters moved into my road about a year ago and they made our lives utter misery. They held out banners outside the windows saying that they were the most vulnerable people in society yet every night seemed to be another party. My neighbour asked them to keep the music down one night as he had a young kid and he was told to F*** off. When the police eventually move them out they found the place was littered with rubbish. excrement, needles and beer cans were everywhere. They had also smashed up a lot of the interior of the house which was currently being renovated.
The local paper tracked down two of the squatters and they found out that they actually came from nice middle class families. They said that they were just doing it as a protest.
It seems to me that the most vulnerable people in society do what all decent people do and wait to go on a housing waiting list. Squatting is just theft masquerading as activism.
