International shipping on ebay, by vince11 on Sept 28, 2013 1:09:38 GMT 1, Hi everyone something i noticed recently, is more and more sellers on ebay from the US refuse to ship to europe, which is really annoying. at first I thought it was because they didn t want to deal with people not speaking english, which could make sense, but I usually send them a message before the end of the auction asking them politely if it would be alright to ship to france for $35 for registered insured mail( which is the regular price) and they reply "sorry can t do it" i don t get it, as i m the one paying for shipping i don t see the difference for them, and if I win the auction it means they will get more money for the print, so why the hell not? Any ideas? This is really frustrating

International shipping on ebay, by philw on Sept 28, 2013 1:14:47 GMT 1, Because to be covered completely it needs to go global express, which will be signed for.
Even if sent registered I don't think it would cover it.
Global express is like $85 for a tube

International shipping on ebay, by Limited Prints on Sept 28, 2013 1:27:42 GMT 1, International shipping is tricky. Between customs, insurances, and travel times it can be awful. I have a prison painter that's been in customs for 2+ weeks and its driving me crazy. I know what your saying that shipping is shipping and in theory it is. but international shipping Is a beast all to its own and deters many sellers who would prefer to get rid of it close to home. and the longer a package stays out the more of a chance something could happen to it. Then its not worth anything to anyone.

International shipping on ebay, by aldoxzx on Sept 28, 2013 1:53:16 GMT 1, Yeah - there is no such thing as $35 registered/insured. First Class for a 2lb tube is about $25 (no tracking/insurance), Priority is about $20 more (insurance varies on destination country but usually very limited), and then Priority Int'l Express is about $60/65 for a 2lb tube, which you can insure and track. This is the bare minimum for something more expensive.

International shipping on ebay, by kultur on Sept 28, 2013 2:59:57 GMT 1, This information is right on. Surprising how much it is... not to mention that you have to actually go to the post office... you can't do it online for anything over 13 ounces. Tracking for a 2lb tube recently returned to Europe was $19 on top of the $20 for shipping - $39 total and that did not include insurance - with insurance was $61. Basic first class mail and at least 1/2 hour in line making the whole trip over 1 hour of my time. I would chuckle if someone offered me $35 for shipping now that I know. You can always look up shipping at www.usps.com and see for yourself.

International shipping on ebay, by jettad on Sept 28, 2013 3:50:26 GMT 1, If I want to ship a tube to the UK it runs me approx. $85 for shipping/insurance. I now cannot get insurance on the cheaper shipping methods to most European countries. I have lost a few sales because of this.

International shipping on ebay, by morgan on Sept 28, 2013 6:54:56 GMT 1, the biggest problem with the ebay global shipping deal is they UNPACK AND REPACK your shit...that is how they cover their ass. I for one would never let some ebay employee unpack and re-roll a print ever.
The other thing that the good buyers out there do not realize is how many countless times people have been scammed, ripped off, "item lost", "i dont want to pay VAT, you name it. And the only way to really protect your ass is door to door WITH a signature which literally any buyer would laugh at if you charged that. I am honestly surprised I see so many STILL selling international with normal like shipping like plain ole usps priority international. You have zero way to cover yourself from a "did not receive item" claim over a certain amount even if it says "delivered"...paypal ALWAYS sides with the buyer in these cases and its a complete load of shit.
Toss in the fact that some countries (yes, I am looking @ you Italy) are notorious for the biggest POS parcel system I have ever seen. Long story short, if it were cheaper, you could actually protect yourself and not be worried about scammers you could bet your ass 99% of the folks in the US would all be shipping INTL. I mean lets be honest, $ is $, pretty sure its not because some people speak a different language

International shipping on ebay, by vince11 on Sept 28, 2013 11:19:01 GMT 1, I understand there are some dishonest buyers out there, but isn t what ebay s grading system is all about, I only have 100% positive and I buy many prints from the US ( thank god some sellers are understanding) The thing is I receive most of the orders paying between 35$ and 50$, don t really get why there s a difference from time to time, as it s a flat rate, but I let it go. Indeed I agree that $ is $ but many times I am watching an auction and willing to buy but the seller won t send to france. For example, this one www.ebay.fr/itm/Error?errid=17&item=300971769133 didn t sell, If the seller would have shipped to france he would have made his dollars, even worse sometimes there s only 1 other bidder, and the print goes for 50$ where I would have bid over a 100$, so here it s loosing $ for being lazy basically, so than if you can t be bothered shipping the prints why bother selling prints on ebay? Run a garage sell or something... I m not trying to be offensive here, it s just really frustrating, as I m not asking for a discount or free shipping, i m never putting the seller on the spot, as I send him a polite email trying to work something out prior the end of the auction, I reply fast, and I pay quickly, never had an issue, Outside of collecting prints I run a gallery in paris, so I know about international shipping trust me and I would never send or have someone send me something unregistered, but I send tubes all the time to the US and charge 25โฌ for registered and insured mail up to 150โฌ, add a couple of euros for 300โฌ insurance. I m not talking about buying a banksy with 10 000$ insurance here, just a couple 100$ at most, so can t imagine the shipping costing 85$, for regular shipping registered and insured for that value. I dont care for express delivered the next day, It s a print! I can wait a couple weeks, all I need is a registration number so I can track it down...
Anyway I just received a new order this morning fees were 30$, I paid 35$, but what the hell, I not going to complain for a few dollars, I received my prints the seller got his money, everyone s happy, isn t that what ebay s about?
