How much art do you 'hoard'?, by Stoko on Nov 1, 2013 23:05:46 GMT 1, Had a trip to the framers today and realised I still have 10-15 pieces under my bed that are waitnig for the wall space they deserve/am allowed to have by my wife * Some of them I doubt will ever make it up. But I still love them and get a thrill scrolling through my folio.
There must be a small bloody fortune sat under our collective beds. What's your policy? One in, one out?
Considered having a fire sale but realised that all I'd do with the money is buy more stuff to go under my bed. Or more effects pedals. Or more lager.
*please select obvious answer....

How much art do you 'hoard'?, by Deleted on Nov 1, 2013 23:09:15 GMT 1, One in one out! I have a small house, with limited wall space. I do collect some (In case i move to a bigger house). But i need to sell some stuff soon, the folio is full and a lot of new cool stuff is ready to be released. Fortune-wise i think all is relative i don't have unframed signed Banksy's in the folio. The expensive stuff is all on the wall.

How much art do you 'hoard'?, by Manty on Nov 1, 2013 23:13:06 GMT 1, I lose mine
maybe i never buy them but think i have?
maybe when I move they will turn up. Half of them I swear I had framed
I am missing at least 10 bits
I do have teenage kids. ummm
The stuff in my portfolio i get rid of after a year, if its not on the wall, i obviously dont like it
I do have a coloured trolleys in my portfolio that was on the wall until a football knocked it off, or was it a thrown shoe? i cant remember too much except looking at it on the floor covered in glass, and my kids being quiet for once where they tried to gauge my reaction
No damage at all, happy days, should get it framed again, maybe perspex with a rubber frame.

How much art do you 'hoard'?, by Jeezuz Jones Snr on Nov 2, 2013 0:02:44 GMT 1, Got 5 framed which are 'keepers' got rid off all my 'under the bed collection' (10 prints) which made the wife happy!! So now saving for a nice OG but also trying to buy a new house, so see what (if any) $$ are left over for my art allowance.

How much art do you 'hoard'?, by Deleted on Nov 2, 2013 0:03:47 GMT 1, Art is a beautiful often thought-provoking thing, to be enjoyed, cherished and shared. The only art I have that isn't on display is waiting for me to accumulate the funds to frame it. I'm into art because I enjoy it's aesthetic and symbolic value, not financial. The thought of flicking through art in a folder that I'd get out only occasionally makes me feel a bit sad. But that's just me.

Just because other people cant see something does not mean it is not special, can be quite the opposite in fact. some of my favorite bits are locked away in my folder and i am not sure why? I know they are there and they mean a lot to me but they are just not on display.

How much art do you 'hoard'?, by treweman on Nov 2, 2013 0:33:39 GMT 1, I would like to claim that I just love art, and that explains my collection. The truth is that I'm probably an addict. 75 or so OGs and over 200 prints. I have been selling of late to buy more expensive pieces, but it has been painful.

How much art do you 'hoard'?, by iamzero on Nov 2, 2013 0:37:35 GMT 1, Had a trip to the framers today and realised I still have 10-15 pieces under my bed that are waitnig for the wall space they deserve/am allowed to have by my wife * Some of them I doubt will ever make it up. Don't buy effects pedal... Just play through a Hotcake dude.

The thought of flicking through art in a folder that I'd get out only occasionally makes me feel a bit sad. But that's just me. Agree totally mate. But I have several pieces I have picked up where the cost of framing them would be much more than I paid for the actual work, and I find myself struggling to justify the cost of framing them and taking down something off the wall to make room for them. Have never bought anything because of its financial worth. The most I have paid for anything is about ยฃ100! -I never keep anything under my bed under the illusion it is 'worth' anything other than the emotional value I bestow on it. Just enquiring as to people's policies on keeping stuff. I love flicking through my stuff that isnt on the wall, forget what beauties I have, and it puts a spring in my step. Couldn't give a sht what it's worth. i'd just like - as you say - to share it in my wall space but never quite get round to it.

I must admit I was very OCD obsessive about buying in my early days of collecting so have I have 47 pages with 24 prints on each page on Expresso Beans which is largely gigposters but a healthy splattering of art and urban prints. That makes 1128!!! prints give or take a few that aren't listed. That's mental!! I sell more than I buy now but believe me, if I had my time again, I would still collect but I would do things very differently.

Art is a beautiful often thought-provoking thing, to be enjoyed, cherished and shared. I couldn't have put it better. My feelings exactly.
