Me Art Monday, by matp on Mar 17, 2014 22:43:50 GMT 1, Sorry for all the pics, but its a few days work to catch up on!! The Gold outline will need tidying up as it has bled through the stencils more than any of the other colours for some reason.

Me Art Monday, by Someones Brain on Mar 31, 2014 14:55:59 GMT 1, My 7 year old son holds some kind of presentation on graffiti and street art in front of his class at school this week. He could chose any topic and said that's what he wants to talk about. He'll conclude his presentation by creating a small spray and stencil piece in front of class (no worries, they'll go outside for it). If he allows me to I'll post a pic of his spray painting here later this week. We already prepared the back ground and I cut the stencil.
To get some practice in spray painting we did a "We Art Weekend" instead of a me art monday. One piece is a four layer stencil (white, grey, black, white) I cut some months ago. I took a pic of my son's favorite matchbox, turned it into a three colour picture and did the stencil work. We sprayed it together on a used pizza box just because the design of the box reminded me on a sun down at a beach. Enough words, here's the result:

Me Art Monday, by Someones Brain on Mar 31, 2014 15:02:17 GMT 1, The second piece we did is a classic one layer stencil. I cut it, my son applied the spray can. I hope he's well prepared for his presentation. At least we had some fun in the sun.

Me Art Monday, by Hairbland on Mar 31, 2014 16:35:43 GMT 1, nice! it is great to involve one's kids...my boy is 9, has met KAWS, did the JR photo truck thing, has gone with me to JR and FAILE ballets, met Marcel Dzama and more...great for them to see something hip and real that their parents are into.
be fun to fill the classroom with aerosol fumes!

Me Art Monday, by Someones Brain on Mar 31, 2014 17:46:28 GMT 1, nice! it is great to involve one's kids... Yes, our son got infected (edit: with the street art virus) during our Paris trip last October. We walked about 75 km in 5 days, took a guided street art tour, found a lot of street art on our own, visited galleries and the Roy Lichtenstein exhibition at Centre Pompidu (among some other things)... and instead of complaining about the boring holiday agenda our son wanted to go out all day (and night) to "hunt more space invaders". It was so good ...

Me Art Monday, by Someones Brain on Apr 9, 2014 22:04:36 GMT 1, My 7 years old son's street art presentation at school went well. His class mates and the teacher liked it a lot. Here's the piece he finished in class (I got his permission to post it). He prepared the backgrund at home the other day, we did the white layer later and he spray painted the black layer (he painted the image himself) at school. It's framed now and up in his room. Socialisation works. I'm a proud father ...

Me Art Monday, by matp on May 26, 2014 22:13:59 GMT 1, Its been a very busy couple of weeks with Scarlett! I have a building firm and we do a lot of work for Urban Leisure Group in London. Throughout all of their bars, they have a LOT of Urban Art pieces, such as Banksy, Faile, Eine, Charming Baker, Paul Insect to name but a few!! Anyway, for their new venture in Smithfield, Ask For Janice, they were getting a Damian Hirst Spot print to go up in the bar. I jokingly said that i'd get Scarlett to do an original Spot piece of her own! That was a very good idea in the owners mind!! So, for the last couple of weeks, we set about doing one on cardboard to be framed and hung in the bar!

Me Art Monday, by matp on May 26, 2014 22:18:36 GMT 1, We had to wait for each individual spot to dry, so it was quite a drawn out process. The brief was for the spots to be not perfect, but with drips, etc. By the end, she had it perfect, getting the right amount of spray to cause the drips.
